Better Collective, a Nasdaq Stockholm-listed company, unveiled its plans for a second listing. As announced by the company, it plans to also list its shares on Nasdaq Copenhagen. Providing a few insights into its intentions, Better Collective informed the public that the second listing would, if approved, occur during the final quarter of the year. Representatives addressed the announcement, elaborating on the company’s intentions. Better Collective’s co-founder and chief executive officer, Jesper Søgaard, said that the dual listing in Denmark is “a natural next step” for the Danish-incorporated company. Søgaard noted that Better Collective has been steadily growing since the Swedish IPO in 2018, generating a lot of shareholder value. At the same time, the company continues its efforts to become a leading digital sports media group. Jens Bager, the company’s board chairman, also commented on the matter, also remarking on Better Collective’s recent growth. According to him, the company is in a stronger position than ever before. The listing in Sweden five years ago contributed a lot to Better Collective’s journey to becoming the leading digital sports media group. ARE THE NZ OF THE YEAR JUDGES MAKING THE CORRECT DECISIONS For years I was a New Zealander of the year award judge and the inaugural New Zealander of the year and I have firsthand experience on how the personal opinions of the judges overrides the distillation of ethical and critical decision making which is replaced by personal preferences. The judges are : Caren Rangi ONZM, Chair, Creative New Zealand Claire Addis, Acting General Counsel, TVNZ Dan Te Whenua Walker, Director, Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, Deputy Chair, NZ Māori Tourism, Global Co-Chair Indigenous, Microsoft Geoff Ensor, Former Department of Conservation Director of Commercial Partnerships Kendall Flutey, CEO, Banqer Marisa Fong, Trustee, Simplicity NZ; Director, Masimaya Consulting, Founder, Director, Arné Skincare Steve Jurkovich, CEO, Kiwibank Theresa Gattung CNZM, Chair, Global Women Valerie Adams DNZM, Athlete, Chair, World Athletics Athletes’ Association Robyn Scott Vincent, Founder, Attitude Pictures Ltd & attitudelive.com For example, would a judge who was a founder of a skincare company promote a founder of a skincare product range above a founder of a technology company like Dawn Aerospace when they have no comprehension of the global scale of this business. Note there are no science-based experts on the panel. Or would a former world class athlete promote a person involved in sport in favour of someone who is making a huge difference to the health and wellbeing of the most disadvantaged people in South Auckland. The rules are To be eligible for this award, the nominee must have, through their achievements, made an outstanding contribution to the wellbeing of Aotearoa, particularly across the last 12-months. LONG-TERM IMPACT how does this person plan to grow and/or adapt their work, contribution, or influence in the future? How would winning this award impact this person and the work that they are doing? The Judges decided on the Dame Sarai Bareman ,Kiri Nathan and Dr Jim Salinger as finalists in the NZ of the year awards. All of these nominees have over many years contributed greatly to their chosen disciplines but I want to get back to basics. How would winning this award impact on this person and the work that they are doing and what have they done in the last twelve months to make NZ a better place? These finalists are well recognised and perhaps they should be categorised as "lifetime achievement" nominees. The reason for this post is that Dave Letele founder of BBM was nominated in the NZ of the year awards but not selected by the judges as a finalist. Perhaps i'm biased because I do a lot of work in South Auckland and understand the magnitude of what Dave has done to improve the lives of others and what he may have achieved if he had been anointed with the New Zealander of the year award . I would be interested to know what my fellow New Zealanders think Sir Ray
