🐇 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹-𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝟯𝗗 𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰. 𝗘𝗡 𝗜𝗦𝗢 𝟭𝟬𝟵𝟵𝟯-𝟮𝟯 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 ☣️ The 3Rs (𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁) principles were developed over 50 years ago to establish a structure that facilitates the conduct of animal research while minimizing harm to animals. Since then, they have been embedded in national and international laws and regulations on the use of animals in scientific procedures. In addition, 𝗶𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗼 methods are much 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 and 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 than animal testing. MatTek Life Sciences microphysiological systems of human epithelial tissues are living, metabolically active 3D tissue models allowing us the flexibility of acute or long-term lab tests in a highly physiological and in vitro setting. The tissue models are produced from primary human cells by tissue engineering technology to model highly relevant and predictive human biology. Many different tissue types can be used to address very specific endpoints: ✅ 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗺, human epidermal tissue equivalent, consists of normal, human cell-derived epidermal keratinocytes that have been cultured to form a multilayered, highly differentiated model of the human epidermis ✅ 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗩𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹, derived from human ectocervico-vaginal (ECV) epithelial cells ✅ 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹, human buccal (inner cheek) equivalent ✅ 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹, incorporates enterocytes, paneth cell, M cells, tuft cells and intestinal stem cells into a highly differentiated, polarized epithelium ✅ 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗢𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 consists of normal, human-derived epidermal keratinocytes which have been cultured in serum free medium to form a stratified, squamous epithelium, similar to in vivo human corneal epithelium ✅ 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗚𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹, human gingival (gum) tissue equivalent ✅ 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗔𝗶𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆 consists of normal, human cell-derived tracheal/bronchial epithelial cells that have been cultured to form a pseudo-stratified, highly differentiated model that closely resembles the epithelial tissue of the respiratory tract The readout for all these in vitro irritations test is based on a 𝗠𝗧𝗧 𝗰𝘆𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 which is a very accurate endpoint method used to measure the cell viability of in vitro human tissue equivalents.
