We examined the hunt for red flags when startups are only just getting started. 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehf35GEN ...and in a hugely popular piece, we examined the investor behaviour that really bugs early-stage founders in the UK. Here's what happened when we let them vent anonymously... 👉 https://lnkd.in/e6pa_GMg If you're not already subscribed, sign up to get our in-depth profile of the UK's most exciting B2B and deep tech companies before you read about them anywhere else. This week at Birmingham Bound we: 1) Met hundreds of startups at the eMerge Americas Conference and got to promote #Birmingham as THE place to grow and scale a company. 2) Scheduled trips with 5 seed or later stage #founders who want to explore Birmingham being their HQ city (in 2 cases, their US HQ city). 3) Scheduled trips with 3 VC firms focused on investing in founders that we already have in our ecosystem. 4) Created connections for two founders in our #BoundforSuccess program that led to one investment and one's first B2B signed contract. We love what we do: recruiting companies to Birmingham and supporting the growth and retention of those who are here.

Co-Founder & Chairman, Founders Forum Group, firstminute capital and Founders Factory. Previously co-founded and exited two unicorns.
How can we help early-stage founders access the connections, capital, and expertise they need to scale their businesses? Last week, at Birmingham Tech Week, we relaunched Tech Nation to supercharge scaleup growth here in the UK and beyond. We’ve pledged to bring £10 billion in private capital to startups, acting as the unified platform for tech entrepreneurs and brilliant tech businesses with scaling potential. Applications now open for our 3 free-for-founders growth programmes: 🌎 Climate Programme for climate tech startups ♎ Libra Programme empowering underrepresented tech founders 🎖 Future Fifty Programme designed to support our next unicorns – #1 pre-IPO network for promising late-stage tech ventures We’re also re-doubling our research & insights offering and continuing as the Global Talent Visa’s endorsing party so we can bring top tech founders and exceptional digital talent to the UK – crucial for scaling great companies. Last but not least, Tech Nation now includes Creo, which we’ve founded with Motability Operations Ltd and Founders Intelligence to empower disabled founders and founders building technologies for the disabled community. Thanks to HSBC Innovation Banking for embarking on this journey with us as a founding partner. Remote work isn't just a temporary trend anymore; it's here to stay. Here’s what our Head of Recruitment Nadia Dorota recommends paying attention to in order to help your company excel in this environment. *If you’re hiring, focus your search on the location where the core team is based. But if the process turns out to be ineffective, consider recruiting talent internationally. This option is one of the major benefits of remote work. Benefit from it! *Align the decision to hire locally or internationally with your company's growth objectives and operational needs. To find a balance between the two, leverage local talent to support immediate growth initiatives while strategically tapping into international talent pools to fuel long-term expansion and innovation. *Don’t underestimate the importance of the company culture! If your team works fully remotely, personal communication is crucial. It cultivates connection and facilitates effective collaboration and productivity. Consider setting up personal check-ins for your teams. It might sound basic, but this simple tool is actually capable of enhancing employee morale and fostering stronger team dynamics. As you continue to navigate the landscape of remote work, remember that efficiency drives progress, but it's the personal touch that fosters lasting success. If you’re facing any hiring challenges – feel free reach out to Nadia! #RemoteWork #TalentAcquisition #TechTalent #Recruitment #RecruitmentTech https://lnkd.in/eZWKBycw

At Syelo we host a monthly pitch competition (SyeloTank) for early stage software companies that are building #recruitingtech. One of the most popular pitches/startups generated north of $50k in revenue within a single hour by pitching to our community. So we have decided to double down on SyeloTank and are excited to announce some new changes to the event and structure: 1) After each pitch attendees will vote in real-time on the presentation and decide whether Syelo should invest in the startup. If the answer is yes, the startup will receive a formal offer from our fund. 2) SyeloTank is now open to the public! Each month you can register on our Eventbright to participate and vote on the future tools of our ecosystem! Sign up for July's event here: https://lnkd.in/gabTJ-bs More on SkillPool tomorrow ;) 3) Can't make an event? No problem at all. Watch all past pitches on the new Syelo YouTube channel! https://lnkd.in/gfgZhvQt Too often startups build software solutions that don't work for us or downright disrespects our craft. As a community we believe the future of recruiting should be defined and designed by actual recruiters. Join us if you want a say in the software that's being built for you (or to replace you)!
