Any “#GreenDeal #IndustrialPlan” would not be complete without a strong chapter on the electromobilities manufacturing ecosystem. To achieve these goals, we propose a multifaceted approach that considers the value chain’s competitiveness at #360° in green transport solutions while revitalizing their financial support. 📜 Ensuring regulatory stability 🔄 Enhancing value chain competitiveness 💰 Financing the transition in the short term: The “low hanging fruits” 💸 Financing the transition in the long term: Net Zero Investment Plan 🤝 Strengthening international cooperation Such policies must be implemented within a framework of regulatory stability and close international cooperation with other regions. The Czech battery sector expresses its ambitions to join the European plans As many other Member States, Czech Republic is also moving ahead focusing on its battery sector, a large-scale commitment led by the Czech Battery Cluster (CBC). It’s now their/our turn to work closer with the European Battery Alliance #EUBatteryAlliance (EBA250) of which CBC has officially become a member and formulate the next steps to increase its/our efforts when it comes to growth of industry and workforce at large. Launched in 2017 under the auspices of European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič and driven by EIT InnoEnergy, the EBA’s mission is to create a competitive and sustainable battery cell manufacturing value chain in Europe. The CBC is eager to join this work and with combined efforts increase the value creation for an integrated European battery industry. The Czech Battery Cluster – now part of the wide network of EBA250 – was founded in 2022 and by standards of the western cluster internal structure it stands up on triple-helix organization – blending the Czech state (represented by CzechInvest governmental agency), the academia and the Czech business sector. Its mission is to build up and cultivate the whole battery value chain ecosystem in Czech Republic. So far it has grown to 35 members gathering the think tanks of almost all the Czech technical universities, the backing of Czech main battery business stakeholders and together with the Czech government agencies started working on both legislative framework and foreign investors’ attraction. Further details are to be revealed early autumn, discussing the next steps ahead of the partnership.

📍 Which role will the #Export have in the future? Let’s think BEYOND THE BOX! This is the main topic of the Österreichischer #Exporttag2024, started this morning in Vienna. 🔎 Among the inspiring speeches we heard this morning, Mr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) underlined that the future of #industry belongs to 🍀 #cleanenergy, and this must be the core of a new industrial policy. 🇪🇺 #Europe may have erred in relying on a single energy source from Russia, resulting in energy costs that are up to four times higher than the global average. Therefore, Europe needs a new Industrial #Masterplan. 💡 As EUMICON, we hope that the new European Commission will set as one of its priorities to have an Industrial Masterplan and to secure #competitiveness for the #energy #rawmaterials industries. Globally, new clean energy enables Europe to deliver fast the #green #transition with globally competitive prices. 🙏 A heartfelt thank you to the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, and its President Mr. Harald Mahrer, for hosting us at such an inspiring event.

My last few weeks have been busy here in Europe - in a few days I travel to Beijing for Auto China 2024... My time with some of the automotive industry's movers and shakers in Geneva, Brussels, Stockholm, and most recently Norway has brought me to a simple and singular conclusion. Together EVeryone will achieve more - but that collective 'achievement' can only be anchored in progressing low carbon economic growth through collaboration not confrontation. Cross-industry, bipartisan cooperation through active and collective dialogue within and between Asia, Europe, the America's & ROW is what we need right now.. Unlike the ebb and flow of the global powers of the past, we must find an economic and strategic algorithm of sorts for collective success. Put simply, penalising the players that have progressed fastest will slow us all down in the quest for a cleaner, greener, better world. 'You may say I'm a dreamer - but I'm not the only one' Upon my return from China I would like share with YOU a more specific set of suggestions for how both the renewable energy and new mobility industries might progress and prosper. In the meantime, it's good to see some strong leadership emerging from European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), Eurelectric, and a few others! We now need to see more action - fewer declarations. #automotive #electricvehicles #management #supplychain

Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (#IEA), has put it in a nutshell: The first priority of the new #EU #Commission is to make #electricity available at competitive prices with all its energy and speed. Electricity prices in the EU are four times higher than in the USA and China. This threatens the energy-intensive #mining and #metals #industry in #Europe and runs counter to the goal of strengthening Europe's #autonomy. Rapid action and a European Industrial #Masterplan are required! It was a great event Wirtschaftskammer Österreich! #Exporttag2024

In this week's #FridayRecap, I look at the discussions of the very first council meeting under the Hungarian presidency as well as discussions on the CO2 footprint of batteries. But first ... The overall economic environment remains difficult, which is reflected not least in the sluggish economic performance of the EU member states. The Kiel Institute for the World Economy is currently forecasting growth of just 0.9 per cent for the eurozone in 2024. The next European Commission as well as member states must put policy measures into place to remedy existing locational weaknesses, such as excessive bureaucracy, high electricity costs and high corporate taxes. Yes, the need to focus on strengthening competitiveness has become part of the rhetoric of political decision-makers. But the announcements and promises must now be translated into concrete measures. On to other topics: #CO2Cars 🚗🚗🚗 | The informal meeting of the Competitiveness Council discussed challenges for the automotive industry with a particular attention to the ramp-up of #EV|s ➡️➡️➡️ For the transformation to be a success, the expansion of the charging and H2 refuelling infrastructure must be a particular focus. A higher level of ambition is needed for the #AFIR - this applies to both LDVs and HDVs. The target of 0 g in 2035 is damn ambitious and can only be achieved with equally ambitious framework conditions. The review in 2026 is therefore crucial! #Batteries🔋🔋🔋| Member States have discussed a delegated act on the carbon footprint of batteries at expert level ➡️➡️➡️ With the first draft of the delegated act, the European Commission would have redefined the rules of the game for life cycle assessment. The rejection of renewable energy certificates and the focus on a location-based approach contradicts the goal of expanding the share of renewable energies in Europe. It hinders companies' opportunities to invest in the expansion of renewable energy plants for economic reasons, energy efficiency and lack of technical feasibility. This would be a competitive disadvantage for Germany as a business location! #AIAct 🧠🧠🧠 | While competitiveness ministers discussed the challenges associated with artificial intelligence, the AI Act was published in the Official Journal this week ➡️➡️➡️ AI is used along the entire automotive value chain and will therefore play a key role in shaping future mobility. The successful integration of AI in the automotive industry requires strategic support and a legally secure and innovation-friendly legal framework that also includes education, research and international cooperation! German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA)
