Repetitive short excursions into the strategic bird's-eye perspective despite strong operational constrains are definitely a worthwhile investment
Considering the very limited financial resources of African countries and the absolutely desolate state of their energy supply, the practical implementation of the described project/technology in Uzbekistan should be followed with particular attention in Africa. If this pilot project is successful, such 'mobile nuclear power plants in miniature format' could - reliably - provide sufficient power to finally - and widely - initiate serious sustainable industrialization throughout Africa. It would make sense for several neighboring countries to join forces to acquire and jointly operate one such a nuclear plant. The recently founded AES alliance (consisting of Mali - Burkina Faso - Niger) would be the ideal first candidate for such an exercise. Numerous declarations of intent in this regard have already been made public last year. https://lnkd.in/eQpgiF5D

The country’s only nuclear power plant, Paks, was build by Russia and currently uses nuclear fuel supplied by Russia’s state-run nuclear corporation Rosatom. At the same time, in order to ensure the facility’s long-term safety and functioning, the Hungarian government decided to look for potential alternatives, keeping in mind the European Union’s sanctions against the Russian corporation. During their session on Thursday evening, lawmakers approved an amendment to the country’s nuclear energy strategy, proposed by the government of the country. The amendment says that "the NPP may use a different, alternative fuel from another company, including during the extended period of its operation." #Hungary #nuclear #power #fuel Click the pic and see more https://lnkd.in/gZgWu9jB

Equipment failures at Olkiluoto-3 NPP in Finland will continue — Expert Earlier it was reported that Finnish nuclear power plant Olkiluoto-3 interrupted operations due to a turbine malfunction MOSCOW, June 4/ Equipment failures at the Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant, built by the French for Finland, will continue to occur, Alexander Uvarov, director of the ANO Atominfo Center, told TASS. "Olkiluoto-3 is a nuclear power unit with a difficult fate. Its project was developed amid an internal conflict in the French nuclear industry in the 2000s. Therefore, various equipment failures will haunt it for a long time, although without serious consequences for the environment," he said. The expert recalled that Finland announced a tender for the construction of this nuclear power unit in 2003 under the French proposal and promptly declared the French company AREVA the winner. "Russia's proposal was rejected. The French promised to build the block in six years and for 3 billion euros. In reality, it took 18 years and at least 12 billion euros. If the Finns had accepted the Russian project, the block would have been in normal operation for a long time and all the failures on it would have been identified long ago," Uvarov noted. Earlier it was reported that Finnish nuclear power plant Olkiluoto-3 interrupted operations due to a turbine malfunction. Olkiluoto 3 NPP is the newest power plant in Finland. It was put into commercial operation on April 16, 2023. #business #finance #financialservices

Philippine Gov’t wants more local firms to invest in nuclear energy. The Department of Energy (DOE) is urging more Filipino companies to explore opportunities in nuclear energy alongside the Marcos administration’s efforts to revive the use of the power source to meet the needs of a growing economy. Philippine Energy Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara said last Wednesday the government was banking on the private participation of energy players’ investments to fast-track President Marcos’ target to make nuclear energy part of the power mix. The President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. bid for a nuclear future for the Philippines, amid his father’s own failed past with the mothballed Bataan Nuclear Power Plant, made progress on July 02, 2024 when the crucial “123 agreement” with the US came into force. With a legal framework now in place to make the technology reach Philippine shores quicker, about 40 American companies are expected to join the fray. Manila Electric Co. and the Aboitiz group had already signified their interest in developing the energy. #PartnerInthePhilippines #PhilippineEconomy #Philippines2024 #Philippines #Switzerland #SwissChamPhilippines #WorkingTogetherToStrengthenEconomies Read more: https://lnkd.in/gYsS78NY Follow us: @inquirerdotnet on Twitter | inquirerdotnet on Facebook https://lnkd.in/gX2c22kM

Sri Lanka’s government is considering nuclear power as an option and has secured Cabinet approval, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said. “We are in the process of calling EOIs, so we are evaluating certain things,” Wijesekara said at a press briefing on Thursday. Wijesekera said that in order to develop nuclear power, a legal framework must be put in place as well as plans on dealing with an emergency. Nuclear power plants take a minimum of 4 years to construct – some countries have taken 14-15 years to do it. If we start now we will have the power plant ready and the framework ready. What the government wants is to have nuclear power as an option. #SriLanka #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #Nuclear
