We are excited to share that Ramon Garcia and Bill Gillespie from MetrumRG, alongside other industry scientists, have spearheaded novel research in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) treatment efficacy through a model-based meta-analysis (MBMA). Their latest study involved an in-depth analysis of numerous investigational agents and approved therapies in 25 studies comprising 81 treatment arms, evaluating 16 different agents. Leveraging a sophisticated Bayesian framework and latent variable models, this research compared treatment effects against placebos, setting a new benchmark for assessing efficacy in SLE treatments. This novel MBMA not only benchmarks the efficacy of these compounds but also showcases the application of latent variable models in understanding chronic disease trajectories. Timely update ahead of #BIoEurope: We are making great progress with our PMD-OPTION study in Primary Mitochondrial Disease (PMD). The first patient has now entered the interventional part of the study and is receiving OMT-28 in once-daily doses. Meet us next week at the BioEurope Partnering Conference in Munich, to learn more about the study design and development strategy in PMD.   The PMD-OPTION study starts with a 12-week untreated run-in phase, capturing each patients’ natural history and baseline parameters. Subsequently, the safety and tolerability of OMT-28 are evaluated, and the response rate of patients showing a reduction of Growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) levels by at least 20% compared to the recorded baseline is reported. As an open label study, we anticipate providing interim data readouts in 2024 and completion of the study in 2025.

An extensive review (https://bit.ly/4bro1rp) on ME/CFS from a multidisciplinary team, including researchers and clinicians, has recently been published. The paper focuses on “describing ME/CFS in terms of symptoms, severity and burden, diagnostic criteria, causes and triggers; followed by an overview of the complex pathophysiology and management of the condition.” Whilst not necessarily providing new information about ME/CFS, this review pools together information from multiple sources to provide a helpful overview of this complex disease. March 2024 marks The Journal of Critical Limb Ischemia's three-year anniversary! Journal of Critical Limb Ischemia is the only peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing the treatment of critical limb-threatening ischemia. The goal of the journal is to provide an international forum for the presentation of original ideas and recent results related to all aspects of diagnostic, therapeutic and pathophysiologic aspects of critical limb ischemia. Journal of Critical Limb Ischemia is the official journal of the CLI Global Society.
