HUD OIG identified that thousands of contractors working on HUD projects may not be protected against retaliation. This is because the contract they are working on pre-dates the July 1, 2013, anti-retaliation law (Section 4712). HUD OIG identified this gap and recommended that HUD modify its contracts to include anti-retaliation provisions. By proactively modifying contracts that do not include whistleblower protections, HUD will further promote the integrity of its programs and ensure that employees who work under those contracts are safeguarded from retaliation when they disclose wrongdoing. Whistleblower Protection Act is finally adopted. After prolonged delays, the Estonian Parliament finally incorporated the EU Whistleblowing Directive into national law on 15 May 2024 by passing the Act on the Protection of Whistleblowers of Work-Related Violations of European Union Law (referred to as the Whistleblower Protection Act). The new law establishes a minimum framework for receiving reports from employees about violations of EU law that they become aware of in the course of their work. It also sets requirements for providing feedback to whistleblowers and protecting them from retaliation. 👉Read more about the new act: https://bit.ly/44PwtiH

The Whistleblower Protection Act, after being signed by President on 19 June 2024, will enter into force on 25 September 2024. The new legislation establishes a comprehensive framework for whistleblower rights in Poland. It applies to all companies with 50 or more employees. The scope of the law mandates internal #reportingchannels for public and private sector organisations that employ 50 or more individuals as of 1st January or 1st July of any given year. Designated individuals or independent third parties must be appointed to manage reports proficiently and conduct impartial investigations. For effective whistleblowing, the internal reporting system must allow for both written and oral reports, with the option for the whistleblower to request a face-to-face meeting. #whistleblower #protection #law
