🌞 Solar Success Story 🌞 On Koh Jik Island in Thailand, 98.5% of the village⚡ is powered by #solar, making it the first Thai island that runs almost entirely on #solarenergy! Without access to the main grid, this village was relying heavily on expensive and polluting fossil fuels for power. But thanks to the island's transition to solar, it has seen a decrease in the cost of energy and air quality has improved significantly, benefitting the lives of everyone on the island. Solar energy is even used on fishing boats to pump water and power green lights, supporting a sector that is critical to the livelihood of the islanders 🐟 The full story here: https://lnkd.in/g-435XYz Become a member of GSC to join our working group on South East Asia and drive our work to catalyze more Solar Success Stories like this in the region. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dz37-uSv #microgrid #Solar2people

🌍 "Reflecting on my journey from rural Japan to Italy, China, Poland, Taiwan, and now Mexico with YKK, each stop has taught me invaluable lessons about our diverse natural environments." As Yuji Noguchi aptly puts it, "Nature's resilience varies globally—from abundant resources to critical conservation needs." "In Mexico, we're harnessing sunshine for efficient solar power to reduce CO2 emissions. Conversely, in Taiwan, where renewable energy costs are high, our investments in solar and wind power underscore our commitment to sustainability despite challenges. These experiences have shown me that every small action—like conserving water and reducing energy—contributes to a greener future." "Let's continue striving together for a sustainable world!" 🌿 #YKK #CycleofGoodness

Photovoltaic (PV) panels installed at KLIA generate an estimated 14,172,162 kWh of electricity per year, which represents about 9.7% of the terminal's consumption. This has helped to reduce carbon emissions by 11,054 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) per year. We are aiming to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, so the PV initiative is a significant step towards achieving this goal. Malaysia Airports is currently accredited under the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme by Airports Council International at Level 3: Optimisation where we have implemented several measures to reduce its carbon emissions, such as using renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and reducing waste. Other sustainability initiatives implemented by Malaysia Airports include energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste management programs. Follow us for more on our special series this month on sustainability efforts at KLIA. Stay tuned! P/s: Don't forget to vote for KLIA in the Skytrax 2024 World's Best Airport category! Empowering Industrial Partners Toward Self-Sufficiency. 🤝 We have recently concluded the construction phase of another rooftop solar #PV, this time for our Slovenian business partner, KOTO. Striving for a clean and safe future, they have chosen the experienced partner, Interenergo, to assist them in fulfilling their #sustainable business strategy and enhancing their energy #selfsufficiency. Apart from being an important addition to the company's sustainable development initiatives, the new solar power plant ☀️ will, over the contract period, ensure #savings of 1,650 t of CO2 emissions and will significantly contribute to Koto’s sustainable performance. With this, Koto is implementing active measures that confirm its commitment to #environmental and #social #responsibility. 📷 Sinergetika
