On this day in 2022, we had the honor of welcoming Illinois Congressman Brad Schneider to HP Tuners. Congressman Schneider visited our office on July 7th to deepen his understanding of our industry and show his support for the RPM Act, which plays a crucial role in our business and community. It was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how our work aligns with legislative interests and to discuss the positive impacts of the RPM Act on both our industry and car enthusiasts nationwide. His visit highlighted the importance of informed legislative advocacy and industry collaboration. Let’s celebrate this memorable visit and continue fostering relationships that drive our industry forward. Here’s to many more! https://lnkd.in/gGizGwht

Executive & CEO Focusing on Leadership, Strategy, Nonprofit Administration, Business Rescue & Turnaround, and Revenue Growth
If there is one thing I have learned in this job, it's that advocacy is far more powerful than affirmation. While social media posts proclaiming "Pride" and "Happy Juneteenth" are positive gestures, we all must go beyond performative celebration this month. If you want to make real and lasting change, participate in the civic process. VOTE. Vote for candidates who will protect marginalized groups and educate themselves on the complexities that are often lost in partisan discourse. Encourage others to vote. Educate yourself on legislation that hurts marginalized groups. Educate others on legislation that hurts marginalized groups. Call your legislators. Give to SUPERPACs and PACs that are fighting for the causes that matter to you. We can amplify our voices by advocating for legislation that protects misunderstood and marginalized communities, while fiercely opposing discriminatory bills. By actively participating in the political process at the local, state, and federal levels, we can ensure our celebrations in June translate into lasting societal advancements.

The February issue of NACS Magazine is a first, as in the first time that we’ve made advocacy the core theme of an issue. We're shining the spotlight on this important area and on some of the people who are doing a great job representing our industry. Discover what it means to be a great advocate in our cover story, "Let Your Voice Be Heard." According to Matthew Durand, VP of corporate affairs at EG America, there are three keys: · Tell your story. · Do your homework, but don’t be afraid to say “I don’t know.” · Understand your coalition and your opponents. The first bullet is easy—it’s your story, after all. The second and third bullets? NACS is here to help, as are the numerous state and local associations in this industry. 🗽Today, we celebrate Juneteenth and a groundbreaking step towards racial justice in NY: Governor Hochul and state legislators have established a Reparations Commission to address the legacy of slavery and ongoing inequity. 🤝🏾 New Yorkers for Reparations (NY4R), a grassroots coalition building the movement for reparations in New York, is gathering signatures and rallying New Yorkers to ensure the commission's success. ➤ But the work has just begun. The Commission needs widespread support to counter MAGA Republican opposition, who seek to whitewash history and block progress. As the NY4R statement says: "Gov. Hochul and state legislators created this commission in response to the demands of New Yorkers across race and place who know reparations are urgent and necessary for making equality real for Black New Yorkers. And we know that the commissioners selected for the task embody the necessary expertise, experience, and values for giving us a roadmap to righting the wrongs of injustice in our state from its foundation.” Join us in taking action this Juneteenth – 📄 Read the full NY4R press release here: https://lnkd.in/dzTr9xMw ✍🏽 Sign NY4R's statement for New Yorkers supporting reparations in the press release 📢 Share this post to spread the word about New York’s historic opportunity for reparations. #Juneteenth #Reparations #RacialJustice #NewYork #NY4R #ReparationsNow #SupportReparations

We have a couple of spots left if you would still like to register! April 18: Citizen Assemblies- Reinvigorating Civic Engagement Note: This is a morning forum, 8:30am. Join us for a discussion that will open up the idea of citizen involvement in local decision-making. Increasingly people on all sides of the political spectrum (including those unengaged) feel left out of how decisions are made. A Citizens’ Assembly is a group of people selected by lottery who are broadly representative of a community. They spend significant time learning and collaborating through facilitated deliberation to find common ground and form collective recommendations for policymakers, decision-makers, and the community. These Assemblies are sometimes called Citizens’ Juries, Panels, or Councils depending on their size and the country where they are taking place. We will discuss how this model works internationally and how it is currently being used right here in Central Oregon. More info: https://lnkd.in/gSYnjqRi

🚨 🗣 It's worth noting that while Rev. Al Sharpton has been a prominent advocate for justice and civil rights, he has also been closely aligned with the Democratic Party and has endorsed their policies in the past. This association may raise concerns for those who oppose certain Democratic policies or feel disillusioned with the party's stance on particular issues. While individuals may appreciate Sharpton's advocacy efforts, they may also question the consistency of his support for policies and politicians affiliated with the Democratic Party, especially if they believe those policies do not align with their own values or priorities. It's important for individuals to critically evaluate political alliances and hold leaders accountable for their actions and endorsements. Engaging in constructive dialogue and advocating for policies that reflect one's beliefs and priorities can help drive meaningful change, regardless of party affiliations. It's understandable that you're passionate about advocating for justice and change within the political landscape. The loss of a loved one, especially under circumstances involving law enforcement, can spark deep emotions and a call for accountability. Rev. Al Sharpton's call for justice during the eulogy underscores the importance of holding authorities accountable and seeking transparency in cases of police custody deaths. It's crucial for communities to come together, demand accountability, and push for systemic reforms to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. However, it's essential to approach advocacy and activism with respect, empathy, and a commitment to peaceful dialogue. Engaging in constructive conversations, working collaboratively with stakeholders, and advocating for change through lawful means can help amplify voices and drive meaningful progress towards justice and equality.
