According to the World Economic Forum, the future of jobs is green, as climate change is changing the labour markets. Some of the key findings from their Future of Jobs Report 2023 are: 1. The green skills revolution has the potential to transform our working lives, as more than 50% of employees will need reskilling by 2025. 2. The green economy will create 24 million new jobs globally by 2030, according to the International Labour Organization. 3. The most in-demand green jobs include environmental engineers, solar panel installers, wind turbine technicians, sustainability consultants, and environmental educators. As urgency for the #NetZero energy transition grows, it is crucial to understand the necessary changes and demands for the labor market. According to the Green Skills Outlook report by Economist Impact, supported by Iberdrola, business leaders are highly optimistic about the green transition, with nearly 80% saying it presents more opportunities than challenges for their organization. However, the report finds that the green transition is threatened by business leaders’ failure to develop and source green skills: the knowledge, competencies, values and attributes needed to develop and support a sustainable, low-carbon and resource-efficient society. Only 55% of business leaders are implementing or planning to implement green skills programs for their workforce. People, their skills, and their work are the keys to transitioning to a greener economy and lowering carbon emissions. The sectors that best help workers acquire new skills quickly and effectively will be at the forefront of the transition. And today, I stumbled upon a fascinating LinkedIn report on green jobs. Check it out 👇 🚀 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐛𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞: In the last five years, Renewables & Environment jobs in the U.S. have surged by a remarkable 237%, while Oil & Gas jobs saw a mere 19% increase. At this pace, Renewables & Environment is set to outnumber Oil & Gas jobs within a few years. 💼 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝: The report highlights that the demand for green talent is growing rapidly and will soon outpace supply.
