We are celebrating our 140th anniversary this year. But what did the world actually look like back in 1883, the year of our foundation? 🤔

This week marks my 4th anniversary at Daikin Central Europe and it’s a moment for reflection on the journey so far. 4 years, 4 insights 1 special tip is what I managed to wrap up on this occasion:
✔ Never be afraid of changes, because changes are the most certain thing. Once you embrace the idea that everything is in motion – your career, your work environment, your topics, this helps you get a peace of mind. Just keep steering forward.
✔ Believe in your strengths, even when you feel that you’re not making 100% use of them – they are your assets and there will be a moment (perhaps it’s just around the corner), when you will be shining, juggling with all of your strengths and skills and doing the magic you’re supposed to do.
✔ Be grateful for the opportunity to work in a company with high professional standards, ethics and corporate culture. That’s a booster of motivation. Daikin is a great place to work and I am happy to be part of this team!
✔ It’s all about people. Connect with people who will make your everyday at work more positive, productive, inspired. I’m grateful to have met wonderful colleagues at work, who are not just helping me do my job, but feel like I’m part of something bigger. And that’s a gift.
☑ And another one, special edition - believe in your superpowers. You don't have one? Sure you do! I've found mine in something I call "The Bulgarian way" - in a very diverse, international company, it's your genuine, even cultural specifics that might add up as a pinch of magic. Mastering the "Bulgarian way" in the last year has proven to be of utmost importance for me, being part of Daikin Bulgaria. Find your superpower!
🎉 Today marks my one-year anniversary as a Director of Business Development at CWT. Reflecting on this milestone, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude:
-Thank you, Douglas Vincent, for opening the door that led me to this incredible journey.
-Thank you, Darren Toohey, for the opportunity to join your exceptional team.
A heartfelt acknowledgment to Linda Shevlin, CTE — your leadership, coaching, and mentorship have been instrumental in the success of our NORAM Sales team and me. 😊
Lessons Learned in Transitioning from the Army:
1. Conduct informational interviews and learn from those who've walked the path before you.
2. Take time for yourself and your family during the transition — it's worth it!
3. Lean on fellow veterans; their support is invaluable.
4. Give back to your community in various ways.
5. Ensure the culture of your new workplace aligns with your values.
Insights from My First Year at CWT:
1. Prioritize genuine connections; it's the foundation of fruitful partnerships.
2. Listen to understand, and take the time to absorb before responding.
3. Bring the Army's work ethic — hard work and initiative are differentiators.
4. Embrace a learning mindset; ask questions and seek continuous improvement.
5. Cherish the present — love what you do and be present for your loved ones.
Grateful for the journey, the lessons, and the amazing team at CWT. Here's to many more years of growth and success! 🚀🥂
🌱 Celebrating the End of a Meaningful Journey 🌱
28th July marks the end of an incredible 5-month journey at ZF, where I had the privilege of interning in sustainability operations strategy. As I look back on this enriching experience, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the amazing support, and encouragement I received from my colleagues.
It's inspiring to see how people genuinely care about sustainability, not just as a buzzword, but as a way of life and a driving force behind their actions.
But what truly surprised and touched me deeply was the incredibly thoughtful gesture by my supervisor and team. They planted a tree on my behalf as a symbolic representation of our collective dedication to preserving our planet. This small yet profound act serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of thinking beyond ourselves and taking action to protect our environment.
We often hear people talk about sustainability, but it's truly heartwarming to be part of a team that walks the talk. ZF's commitment to sustainability doesn't stop at words; it transcends into tangible actions that leave a positive impact.
As I move forward in my career, I will carry the lessons learned and the values instilled during my time at ZF. I am more determined than ever to incorporate sustainability principles into every aspect of my professional and personal life. I firmly believe that together, through collective efforts, we can drive meaningful change and create a brighter, greener future for generations to come.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my supervisor, Meike Hahn, for being an exceptional mentor and leader. Your guidance and unwavering support have been instrumental in shaping my understanding of sustainability operations. I couldn't have asked for a better mentor.
I also want to express my gratitude to all my colleagues who welcomed me into their team with open arms and made this journey unforgettable. Your passion for sustainability and the dedication you bring to your work is truly commendable.
Lastly, I encourage everyone to reflect on what they think about sustainability and how they can actively contribute to positive change. Together, let's turn our thoughts into meaningful actions that nurture and protect our planet for future generations.

One Year Work Anniversary!!
Where did that time go? 12 months ago to the day, I started with DFDS Logistics Special Cargo - and what a year it’s been!!
I joined DFDS having ‘been around the block’ a with a few other companies who just didn’t seem to get it. Don’t get me wrong, if it’s fancy trucks with V8 engines or 750 Horsepower with alloy wheels and lights you can see from outer space you want, this probably wouldn’t be the company for you. We all basically have the same trucks with the same equipment (mostly 🤔), but it’s the way we do the job that sets us apart from the crowd - and that has to largely be credited to Transport Manager; Paul Grant, Liam Mulligan & Ben Andersen, and of course, a great team of drivers who enable the whole operation to work the best it can.
It’d be wrong to say there are never any issues, it wouldn’t be true if I did, but it’s the way we deal with the issues to deliver the solution that makes all the difference.
I’ve done all kinds of things over the years, and driving trucks is more of a tick box thing for me. Something I always wanted to do like my Dad before me and his Dad before him (even though he always said he’d kick my butt if I ever looked at one 😂) I wish I had the opportunity to ride alongside him though.
The industry is changing in many ways, both in terms of environmental impact, methods of transportation and handling of goods, storage and distribution - all driven by demand created by each and every one of us.
I thrive on a challenge, and relish the opportunities to exceed expectations, and it’s that reason I really wanted to join the Special Cargo team. We deliver everything from Steel Pilings to construction materials for some of the highest profile projects currently ongoing in the UK, but it’s the opportunity to be able to provide exceptional service to our customers that drives me on, and also to set an example for others to follow.
There are always opportunities to do things differently and the way things have always been done, should always be challenged. The ability to adopt change is the capacity to evolve, and evolution is without doubt, the future.
And so with that, I’ll sign off for now with a bit of a recap of the year I’ve had, thank you to everyone who has helped me one way or another this year - you know who you are ❤️🚛❤️🙏

Today, as we conclude the celebrations of our 25th anniversary on this festive day, we all want to say with one voice: THANK YOU, Miguel Casal! None of this would have been possible without your leadership!
Miguel Casal, CEO and Chairman of COSTA NOVA Industria, represents the drive to bring Portuguese ceramic tradition to the world.
Everyone in the company knows him. He is more present than any of us, familiar with every file and mastering every issue. This is not an exaggeration – his work ethic is exemplary, and his intelligence is boundlessly admired. He leads with expertise.
Above all, Miguel is a remarkable entrepreneur and visionary. The company, which began modestly yet ambitiously at the start of the century, is now a global reference. It operates four manufacturing units in the Industrial Areas of Vagos and Ílhavo. Projects like the COSTA NOVA brand, present in over 60 countries, and ecogres show his capacity for innovation and success.
"Our story has always been based on a very simple vision: innovation," he says.
He is often seen cycling through the factory floor, always ensuring the quality of the final product and the well-being of his team. We know he will continue to inspire and lead, bringing ambition for success to the table every day.
"Many times, we were in the right place, at the right time, with the right people. Circumstances often dictate success or failure – sometimes by a small margin. We had a mix of luck and vision," he adds.
We respectfully contest this, Eng. Casal, because luck requires a lot of hard work, and nothing that happened in these 25 years was by chance. It was (and above all) a result of your personal effort!
As 2023 winds down, I find myself reflecting on a year rich in personal discovery.
🔹 Six Years at Hilti - A Rewarding Journey: Looking back, my six-year tenure at Hilti has truly been a transformative and enriching experience. I'm filled with gratitude for the unwavering support and myriad of opportunities that came my way during these years. The true gem of my time there? The people. Collaborating with such talented and passionate colleagues has been an absolute highlight. A huge shout-out and thanks to everyone at Hilti and those customers that I've had the pleasure of working with! 🙌
🔹 A Personal Odyssey: Post-Hilti, I embarked on a personal journey, focusing on recovery and self-exploration. There are a few key realizations during this path:
Boldness in Self-Care 💪: Embracing tough decisions and prioritizing my well-being has been empowering. In difficult times, daring to take a leap can lead to profound healing and growth.
The Power of 'No' ✋: Focusing more on saying no has reshaped my life. It's about making wise choices, leading to more fulfilling activities, both professionally and personally.
Reassessing Beliefs 📚: 'Think Again' by Adam Grant has been a guiding star this year, encouraging me to challenge my beliefs and be open to new perspectives.
Valuing Health and Family ❤️: Ultimately, health and family stand as life's cornerstones. Prioritizing these vital aspects has been my most important decision.
🔹 Optimism about the future: As I look to the future, I am filled with hope. The insights and experiences of this year have paved the way for a new chapter, one that I step into with eagerness. Here's to a future where we continuously learn and prioritize our well-being!
