Why Emma Koehler's story is at the heart of our culture: Emma’s story is at the heart of our culture because her story is one worth knowing and one worth admiring – the amazing and noble life she lead is the reason we work at a hotel named Emma. Emma Koehler’s passion and pioneering spirit at a time when women did not even have the legal right to vote is inspiring. We believe that of the many ways Emma earned the right to the beautiful tribute that is Hotel Emma, the examples we admire the most are: her courage, integrity and independence after Otto’s death; her resilience and innovation to keep the brewery open and successful during prohibition; and her sense of community as San Antonio’s largest and best employer. There is no other woman in history who did what Emma Koehler did, and her many examples of what it means to be what we call “Emma Strong” are why we are proud to work at Hotel Emma.

Embracing #diversity seems like a no brainer in this day and age. Unfortunately, not all corporations do this. According to the HACR - Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility, just 7% of corporate board members identify as Latino and 5% of executive positions are held by Hispanics, even less are held by Latinas. Hear from our very own Ozzie Godinez how PACO is uniquely positioned to address these disparities. I hope this sinks in and leads to other corporations changing their stance on diversity so we can all drive meaningful change in #corporatediversityinitatives.
Thank you, Crain's Chicago Business, for the opportunity to share more about our journey. While not easy, our evolution has been full of ups and downs, but putting our people first and staying true to our inclusive values has been one of the smartest decisions we’ve ever made. I hope you enjoy it! PACO Collective #InclusiveMarketing #Equity https://lnkd.in/gc_8BECy

🥃🏴 Embracing Your Whole Identity in the Workplace 🏴🥃 On this Burns Night, let us raise a toast to the celebration of our rich cultural heritage and the importance of embracing our whole identity in the workplace. As we honor the legendary poet Robert Burns, we are reminded of his profound words, "Freedom and whisky gang together." In today's diverse and inclusive world, it is crucial to recognize and appreciate the unique backgrounds, traditions, and perspectives that each individual brings to the table. By embracing our whole identity, we not only foster a sense of belonging but also unlock the true potential of collaboration and innovation. Just as whisky symbolizes the spirit of freedom, let us break down barriers and create an environment where everyone feels empowered to be their authentic selves. By doing so, we can harness the collective strength of our diverse workforce and drive positive change. So, let us raise our glasses to Burns Night, a celebration of our heritage, and a reminder that embracing our whole identity in the workplace is not only a source of strength but also a catalyst for success. Cheers to the freedom to be ourselves and the power of unity! #BurnsNight #EmbraceYourIdentity #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceCulture

On Tuesday, I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Las Vegas, NV Community Connect/ERG Networking Event, sponsored by our extraordinary DEI Team! The speed networking activity helped to break the ice and allow us to focus on fostering meaningful connections. Our esteemed SVP, Chief of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Joy Fitzgerald, along with her remarkable team, graced the occasion with their presence and profound insights. Joy delved into the challenges we encounter when attempting to forge relationships across such a vast enterprise, emphasizing the importance of these connections for personal and professional growth. Joy passionately spoke to the true essence of DEI—embracing and showcasing our authentic selves. She shared her own transformative journey, recounting moments where she felt compelled to conform to societal standards of professionalism, stifling her true essence in the process. "I spent more time worrying about what people thought about me than I did doing the actual job," Joy candidly revealed. It took a trusted individual to recognize her inner turmoil and remind her of a powerful truth: "They chose you. If you are giving them anything other than you, you're not living up to what they hired." Joy's words struck a chord within me. Reflecting on my own journey, I recalled moments of hesitation, particularly when it came to embracing my natural hair in corporate settings. But witnessing women with locs in positions of power empowered me to shed my fears and embrace my authenticity. Today, I stand firm in the belief that presenting our true selves is not only liberating but also profoundly inspiring to others. For me, DEI transcends mere diversity—it's about celebrating our differences and dismantling the shackles of conformity. Let's not waste precious time trying to mold ourselves into what we think others want us to be. Instead, let's embrace our uniqueness wholeheartedly, for therein lies the path to true success and fulfillment.

Self-Love: The Foundation for Powerful Women Leaders This Women's History Month, we celebrate the trailblazers who shattered glass ceilings and redefined leadership. But true leadership isn't just about external impact; it starts with a foundation of unwavering self-love. What is self-love? It's not vanity or narcissism. It's a deep appreciation for who you are – your strengths, flaws, experiences, and everything in between. It's the unwavering belief that you are worthy of happiness, respect, and success, just as you are. Self-love fuels your capacity to lead others well. Here's how: Empowers Authenticity: When you love yourself, you embrace your unique voice and perspective, inspiring others to do the same. Authenticity allows you to build trust and connection within your team. Breeds Empathy: Self-love fosters an understanding of your own vulnerabilities, making you more receptive to the struggles of those you lead. Strengthens Resilience: Life has its challenges. Self-love equips you to bounce back from setbacks and inspire your team to do the same. Becoming a leader who loves powerfully starts with loving yourself fiercely. Here are some practices: Gratitude: Regularly acknowledge your accomplishments and accomplishments of others big and small. Boundaries: Set healthy boundaries to protect your time and energy. Self-Care: Prioritize activities that nourish your mind, body, and spirit. Embrace the woman you are, flaws and all. This self-acceptance is the fuel for your leadership journey. 🚫 This is NOT another “motivational” event. 👇 🌀 This is for the goal-driven woman who wants real life strategies, higher-level thinking, and to feel inspired...just without the fluff and circumstance. 🚫 This is NOT for the woman who is “just fine” where she is - personally and professionally. 👇 🌀 This is for the high-achieving woman who wants to push the limits of her full potential...and she wants to learn better ways to do it. 🚫 This is NOT for the woman who likes easy, shallow-end conversations. 👇 🌀 This is for the goal-driven woman who is craving deep-end conversations that will challenge her to think and act beyond what she even believes is possible. If you’re a goal-driven professional woman (or know one who needs to be at the table)...let’s meet in Orlando at the Lake Nona Wave Hotel, Thursday, February 1st. Let’s spend a Day Away together, step off the hamster wheel, and learn the REAL skills it takes to win at work AND life.
