What is the Best Ice Skating Rink for 2023? (usatoday.com)
Prices are way too high to stay at this hotel that I have been staying since 2005 before Hilton took it over ! Never return and a Diamond for life member !!
What is considered "good" #filmediting? It's a question that everyone seems to have an answer to. But what about bad editing? Are there any examples of truly, and I mean awful editing? Let's discuss.
When you are roller skating in a rink and have moved beyond the deer-in-a-headlight-bent-knees-arms-out stage, your next step is learning how to navigate the rink. One of the earliest lessons I learned was "skate through".
Here is an example of "skate through": As I am turning a corner, I can see about 10 feet ahead of me that there is a group of three friends that are all holding hands. My instinct might be to immediately start braking. However, the rink is like a river, constantly moving, and what I came to learn is that braking for a perceived or forecasted risk just creates more chaos and more risk. You see, by the time I reached the three of them, they had stopped holding hands or moved out of the way. If I had "skated through", I would've never actually run into that forecasted risk. But you know what did inhibit the flow? My starting and stopping, constantly leaning on my brakes.
So it goes with life and work. Often we are paralyzed by a perceived or forecasted risk, hitting the brakes - starting again- hitting the brakes- and it interrupts our flow toward our goals or big ideas. It's not that we shouldn't be constantly scanning for risks, but we should be pragmatic and skate through whenever possible. Often, those risks do not materialize and we are able to realize our goals.
