#HORIBA offers a lineup of #oxygen analyzers with three categorized measurement methods (as of 2024) to provide optimal oxygen measurement for each application. Today, we will introduce the Zirconium oxide method. < Zirconium Oxide Method (Concentration Cell Type) > Solid electrolyte zirconia elements have conductivity for oxygen ions under high temperature conditions. The electromotive force increases as the temperature of the zirconium oxide element is heated. By measuring this electromotive force and the temperature of the zirconia element, the oxygen concentration in the sample gas can be obtained. Today, we will introduce the Zirconium oxide method. <Zirconium Oxide Method (Limiting Current Type)> When the oxygen pumping action is performed in the gas diffusion chamber restricted by the gas diffusion holes, the current keeps a constant value though the zirconia element even if the voltage applied to the zirconia element is increased. This constant current is called limiting current. This limiting current is proportional to the oxygen concentration in sample gas, so the oxygen concentration can be measured by measuring limiting current. Efficient removal of radioactive 90Sr from solutions is of vital importance due to its radioactive nature and high mobility. Herein, a 2D anionic metal-organic framework (MOF) [Me2NH2][KZn(pydc)2(H2O)2]∙H2O (K-Zn-MOF; pydc = 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid) was synthesized and characterized. The prepared K-Zn-MOF was in turn applied for the removal of Sr2  ions and various experimental conditions including contact time, initial concentration, and temperatures were optimized. Experimental findings revealed that the adsorption of Sr2  on K-Zn-MOF reached equilibrium within 60 min at room temperature with Re = 95.39%. K-Zn-MOF exhibited ultra-high adsorption capacity (878.3 mg g−1), remarkable affinity (Kd = 5.8 × 105 mL g−1) in solutions and super-high selectivity in the presence of interfering coexisting ions (Na , K , Mg2 , and Ca2 ). Mechanistic investigation suggested that free exchangeable [Me2NH2]  ions and strong interactions between uncoordinated oxygens from COO− groups with target ions significantly contributed to the rapid adsorption of Sr2  ions. https://lnkd.in/gEwYjku6 #MOF #watertreatment

ⓅⒶⓅⒺⓇ ⒶⓁⒺⓇⓉ: What determines the #stability of Fe-N-C #catalysts in HT-PEMFCs? Fe-N-C catalysts are an attractive #low_cost alternative to Pt for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in high-temperature proton exchange membrane #fuelcells (HT-PEMFCs) as they are less sensitive to phosphate poisoning, but they suffer from poor stability and unclear degradation mechanisms. In this study, the activation and degradation mechanisms of HT-PEMFCs with several classes of Fe-N-Cs operating for 90 h are identified using a combination of operando electrochemical and post-mortem physical analysis. While simultaneous activation in terms of accelerated #ORR processes takes place by acid redistribution, the degradation of the catalyst leads to drastic performance loss (–27%) within the first 24 h. Carbon corrosion has a lower impact and the strongest degradation is attributed to active site deactivation e.g. by transformation to inactive nanoparticles or by site loss. This study helps to understand the degradation of Fe-N-Cs in HT-PEMFC and points to the necessary and inevitable modification of single-atom catalysts.
