#SafetySpotlight Upon arriving at a job site, Aaron observed that the mating crew had placed mats over the road, curb, and sidewalk. Noticing a handicap ramp two houses away, he recognized that the mats would hinder wheelchair access. Consequently, he removed the mats from the sidewalk. This act serves as a great example of how our work should not create unnecessary burdens for those in the community. Good catch, Aaron! #safety #safetyfirst #corevalue #HooperCorp

Back in my home town of Bridport , yesterday was Haterday! We come together to celebrate….wearing hats (it’s as simple as that). I wasn’t around to be able to take part this year. With the unpredictable weather we had I think I would have gone with a selection , to be one the safe side. What hat do you wear the most and why? Mine is my wool hat, hides a bad hear day , keeps me cosy and no one else at home wants to borrow it… #hats#manyhats#hr#humanrrsources#disc#familyrunbusiness#hrsupport#hrhelp

🚨 Safety first! If you’re holding an in-person event, does your venue have a clear and communicated plan for evacuating individuals with disabilities during emergencies? Is your clients and participants' safety a top priority for you and your venue team? As a person with disabilities, I would worry about this, so making an effort to place this information on your sales or web pages may mean I am more inclined to buy a ticket or attend your event. Need some help with getting this right? Need a list of questions to ask the venue or the correct way to phrase things on your sales and booking pages, why not download my FREE list of 10 questions to ask your venue about accessibility? https://lnkd.in/exGvCiEW #AccessibleEvacuation #safetyfirst PD: Green background, Fire Exit in white, White images of a white wheelchair with a person, Green man running through a white door, white arrow pointing upwards.

Championing a Better Future for Young Caregivers | Strategic Communicator & Business Builder | Creating Solutions & Raising Awareness to Help Over 5.4M US Caregiving Youth Thrive
Video from the U.K. Carers Trust. The U.K. dedicates an entire week to acknowledging and supporting unpaid caregivers, consistently recognizing their young carer population. The U.S. needs to do the same, ensuring inclusion for our over 5.4 million Caregiving Youth. As Saul Becker wrote last year - "Tragically, little has changed, despite the publication in the last 15 years or so of research and other evidence about the numbers of young caregivers in the USA and the impacts of caring on children’s childhood, development, education, and health. The USA needs to wake itself up and take determined action to identify and reach some of the millions of children and young people who have to care for parents and other family members who have an illness, disability, mental health problems, or addiction. We have been saying this for two decades. So why is policy and practice in the USA so slow to engage with this issue when other countries around the world are accelerating ahead? Why isn’t the USA learning from the positive policies, services, and interventions for young caregivers in other countries?" "Why are young caregivers in the USA still largely invisible, hidden, and ignored? For these children, this amounts to punishing them for caregiving. Why would any country want to do that to its children and young people?" - Saul Becker, Professor of Children and Families curating the new Institute for Children's Futures at The Manchester Metropolitan University. Carers Trust Ambassador. Registered Social Worker. The Manchester Metropolitan University Manchester, England, United Kingdom ### Andy McGowan Feylyn Lewis, PhD Connie Siskowski, RN, PhD American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY)
