HJF wrapped up the month of June with an incredible Juneteenth celebration hosted by the BLAC’ employee resource group. The theme, "Our Ancestors’ Wildest Dreams" framed the day's events which honored the past while forging toward a future where all people receive equality, but more importantly, equity. Performances and exhibitions were a beautiful and educational display of culture and creativity provided by: Yolanda Phillips- Standardized Patient from HJF supporting Personnel Support Memorandum of Agreement at Val G. Hemming Simulation Center James Flowers- Paintings on steel - Best New Artist Find 2024 at Aromatic DC-Artist Anansa Ronne- Creator and Founder of Bougie Brooklyn Girl (BBG)-Marketplace Keith Puryear-Harrington- Artist Adeteju Adeniji- Research Coordinator from HJF supporting the National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health (NCDMPH) - Singing "Lift Every Voice and Sing" /Poem The intergenerational West African Performance Ensemble, FarafinaKan - Drummers Brothers Agyei Edwards and Kweku Sumbry, and Sister Makayla Sumbry.
