2 books ordered while at #Xerocon (you've got to just get on with things, why wait?)
Be More Pirate by Sam Conniff The Uncertainty Scientist:
Crikey his 2 sessions changed my view on things. Did you know that 85% of people in a meeting have verbally agreed with the majority, even if it didn't align with them?
This increases to a whopping 91% at leadership level. Terrifying, but makes sense. We have a need for closure, and will make the wrong decision so that we don't have to face the uncertainty.
Also love how Sam signs off his emails "with Love and Uncertainty"
5 Love Languages: Colin Timmis recommended this in his session with Kate Hayward all about creating exceptional client experiences.
It's ALL about the relationship, and the experience that we give our clients. So it's crucial to get to know their language, and how we communicate. It might be more talking, it might be detail, might mean keeping things simple.
Could mean cake. Or just a random phone call. And when did you last ask them how you could do better?
I've been aware of this book for some time, Karen Reyburn also recommends it for better working relationships, including your teams and clients.
And it's true. I recently suggested a spa day for our team. They didn't want it, and said they're happy with a beer and a burger, and just getting together. Vicky shared that the most important thing I can give everyone is my time, not things 🤗
Listening to CHIC on 6Music this morning. Going to see Nile Rogers and CHIC in a couple of weeks! That was a moment of certainty right there. Booked the tickets, even though none of my friends can go! 💃
