Compaction is an important issue for manufacturing of MV/HV/EHV Cables. Compaction reduces the circular wire curves over conductor surface. This reduces the high polar electron density over some specific points. Role of extruded semi conductive conductor screen decreases. A smooth circular shape forms under the insulation layer and result is good partial discharge.

Recently I was presenting during the Cyberjoin Seminar in Stuttgart. The subject of this particular seminar was: “Battery box and modules”. The subject of my talk was “Compacting and brazing as two key joining processes for the module connectors in electric vehicle manufacturing”. The presentation was focused on the pack level of traction battery manufacturing, whereby the so-called module-to-module electrical and structural joints play the major role. In the module-to-module connections mostly cooper busbars or busbars and cables need to be joined together. The current technology of choice is resistance welding respectively resistance brazing.
