How many agencies or freelancers do not hand over the Meta Business account, or release the Facebook page from their Meta account upon losing or resigning from a social media management contract? And why? Is it carelessness, incompetence.... malice? I fight against this all time, and LAST resort is reaching out to Facebook (obviously). I ran a thorough attempt to gain access to a page since August. The hours spent were endless! All the while, I had a strong feeling that I knew exactly where this mystery business account stemmed from. Why not do the due diligence to offer a good, clean handover and be proud of your legacy? Even better practice would be to set up a Meta account with your client having admin access and explaining the accountability from set-up already.

Ever wonder why your portfolio projects aren't getting noticed? Let me share a secret. In the last six months, I've reviewed countless portfolios, and the most common projects I keep seeing are music players and redesigns of popular FAANG apps and websites. Honestly, these types of projects make it really difficult to stand out. Think about it from a company's perspective when they're reviewing a Facebook (Meta) redesign project. Meta invests millions of dollars in hiring top designers, and extensive research goes into improving these digital products. It's nearly impossible for a single designer to redesign an entire website or app better than a well-resourced team. Why would any company be interested in reviewing a redesign project for company like Meta who has already poured months of work and a massive budget into perfecting? The real way to increase your chances of getting noticed is to focus on solving actual problems people face. Pick projects that fix pain points and add genuine value. #Design #UX #Portfolio

After taking some much needed rest, focusing on my side businesses, and spending time with my family, I’m excited to announce that earlier this month I started a new role, building on my experience at Meta, 20 years as a creative, and as a small business owner: Head of Brand Marketing for Range.com. For those of you still in the market and thinking about how to approach your job hunt, I'll share some of my experience here. I had three paths I was looking at. 1. Step back into agency life as a GCD or CCO. This would be like putting on an old pair of shoes. Comfortable, but they don’t really move you forward much. 2. Go in house and run a creative department for a client. This would have resulted in a lot of the same type of work as path 1, but when you’re your own client the work environment, strategy and focus is different. 3. Take on broader responsibilities for a smaller company. This would be an opportunity to help shape not only the work going out, but the strategy, the channels we’re using, the structure of the creative department, etc. As chance would have it, path three opened up here at Range, a fintech start-up focused on reimagining the future of wealth management. Having run the financial services sector for North America at Meta, I was already well-versed in the industry and recognized the promise of the product. This is - by far - the earliest stage company I’ve been a part of (aside from my own businesses). And it's already been exciting to be in on the ground floor, working with the founders, having to wear multiple hats. A few other learnings: - Be open to anything. Each time I’ve moved in my career, it’s involved stepping into something that’s a bit new and uncertain. And every time it’s worked out for the better. Learn new things, meet new people. - Take a test drive. This started as a contract position. If you have the luxury of bringing people on freelance/contract first, you can both see what’s what. Meta Business Suite support needed! I am looking for support regarding a recent challenge I've encountered with Meta Advertisement services while running ads for O! Jewelry. Currently, I find myself at a crossroads due to the lack of responsive customer support, and I'm hoping some of you might be able to provide valuable insights or guide me in the right direction. Here's the situation: I initially set up prepaid funds for my ads since I couldn't configure direct debit for payments. After charging the account with a couple of hundred euros, our campaign went live and after a modest 2 euros ad spend, my account was unexpectedly disabled citing a "failure of payment." Strangely, the dashboard clearly indicates that the last transaction was the initial deposit and after checking with our bank, the transaction was in fact successful. I've been diligently trying to resolve this issue by persistently reaching out to Meta's support (as recommended by colleagues at Meta), but unfortunately, I've only received automated responses and, despite my efforts, have been left without a solution for the past month (with no response from Meta side since a week). If any of you have experienced a similar situation or have insights on how to navigate this challenge, I would greatly appreciate your guidance. Your expertise could be invaluable in helping O! Jewelry overcome this obstacle and finally launch our campaign after a delay of one month (having missed Christmas and New Year's - being key selling moments).
