Transitioning from military service to the civilian work environment can be overwhelming. Therefore, is important to strategically align your values and goals with one of many organizations that are part of the DoD Skillbridge program. In my experience, working for a Veteran Owned Small Business allowed me the opportunity to slowly transition to the civilian workforce, while getting the support from veterans that are willing to mentor and guide you throughout the process. I was an All-Source Intelligence Analyst in the U.S. Army and retired as a First Sergeant after 20 years of service. I decided to become a Program Integrator (Program Management Support) while receiving the necessary training to be competitive for a position within the Department of Defense. The training was structure in a way that allowed me to do computer-based training from home and face-to-face classroom time at a secure facility. I am very thankful that I completed the DoD Skillbridge training requirements and to have accepted a job offer with Yellowfin Technology six days after my retirement date. Would you consider a candidate with following: 1) A person with almost 15 years of honorable military service in 2 branches of service (8 years active duty - Marine Corps & 6 years National Guard - Army, 12 years of separation between these tours)? 2) During the 12 years of separation between military services, a person that has worked his way up through the manufacturing plants (plastics, stamping, poly products, electronics) in a team member/quality assurance/production control, team lead and supervisor roles? 3) After the end of his second tour of military service, a person who recognized the industry changes and enrolled himself in information technology school full time and simultaneously worked contract roles to gain real-world experience in the field of information technology? 4) A person, who during these 10 years since graduating from the information technology system administration program, worked his way up the "technical ladder" while maintaining and improving his customer service skills (also known as "soft skills") and serving as a leader in all positions? 5) A person who recognized that his skills constantly needed updated, enrolled and completed the cybersecurity specialists and engineer programs, enroute to completing his associate degree in Networking and Cybersecurity? 6) A person who is enthusiastic about what he does, constantly develops his own skills and abilities, a professional who has proven leadership abilities (whether in a leadership person or not), willing to relocate for the right opportunity, AND a great mentor for all around? IF you have answered yes, we should definitely talk. Most of these things you could never put on a resume (takes up too many spaces and NOBODY reads that long of a resume, lol).
