Had a wonderful opportunity to raise money for the NAACP and we were able to donate $1200! 🌟 Their vision is an inclusive community rooted in liberation, where all persons can exercise their civil and human rights without discrimination. They are committed to a world without racism, where Black people enjoy equitable opportunities in thriving communities. #HighlandManagementGroup #NAACP #CommunitySupport #Equality #NoToRacism #TogetherWeRise

Forty-one percent of Americans say they would not continue giving to a charity if they learned that it tolerates discrimination against the people it serves, and 34 percent would not give to charities that use culturally insensitive images and language, according to a new survey supervised by the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance. Seventeen percent would stop giving to a charity if they learned its board was not diverse. Dear Mumsnet I've just read a thread about Global Butterflies that breaks your Talk Guidelines. Your guidelines include no personal attacks, no hate speech of any kind, and no deliberately inflammatory behaviour: https://lnkd.in/exT-NYQH The person who started the thread in January this year complained that they were being forced to attend training at work conducted by Rachel Reese 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈 from Global Butterflies. The training was for all staff to understand more about gender expression and how to support transgender people. Lots of people pitched in to suggest solutions, including ways to bait, shame and embarrass Rachel during the training. They were united in sympathising with the person who would be attending the training, and found much to laugh about and scorn at the expense of transgender people's dignity. I browsed a bit more and found much more unmoderated, overwhelmingly anti-trans content. I saw people shouting down and contemptuously contradicting those who were explaining the experience of trans people in the UK. I stopped reading after a while as I was feeling too sick to continue. I would like to understand your position on applying Mumsnet's own guidelines in relation to anti-trans hate on your platform, and I look forward to hearing from you. Dear allies The Mumsnet thread came up as a Google suggestion when I was searching for Global Butterflies because I wanted to donate to their fund (details below). Please consider donating if you can do so 🙏 I'm not going to share the site or the comments because they don't deserve airtime (if you want to check it out, search for 'Global Butterflies' or 'transgender' on the home page of Mumsnet). But these hateful bigots are the people bringing up the next generation. Looks like Gen Z will have some parental education to do, on top of saving the planet whilst earning less money than their parents did. Dear Gen Z I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry about the state of the world that you're inheriting. #transrightsarehumanrights #loveoverhate #standwithtrans
It's been a tough week here in the UK 😢 If you are feeling powerless as an #ally in this terrible UK climate for the trans & nonbinary community, please consider a donation, however small to the Global Butterflies #Trans & #Nonbinary Charitable fund 🙏 The money is distributed within the UK by Consortium of LGBT Voluntary and Community Organisations 75% of the fund goes to UK #trans and #nonbinary organisations and 25% is donated to international trans & nonbinary organisations distributed by International Trans Fund (ITF). Our fund accepts both #Corporate and individual donations. Please donate if you can or ask you organisation to do so. Please click here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eukd8B6p Now is really that time!! Dear Community Members, We are dedicated to our mission to provide safe and affordable housing for LGBT adults ages 25 to 49 experiencing domestic violence or discrimination. Currently, we offer a range of services to support our community, including housing referrals and advisement, counseling, financial education, and legal referrals to our local nonprofit collaborators. This mission cannot be carried out without the assistance of the community, organizations, and the individuals that feel this need is great enough to support. If you're a salaried employee getting a paid day off work for Juneteenth today (or any day this week), consider donating that money to an organization working toward racial equity. Most holidays are performative. Intentional action can make them more meaningful and impactful. If you're donating today, consider seeking out a smaller Black-led organization that might not be receiving as much funding or support as the larger orgs. Better yet, do some research to find out if there are any racial justice organizations in your local area, and direct your support there. Here are some of my favorite NW-based orgs that accept donations: - Jefferson County Anti-Racist Fund - Creative Justice NW - Lavender Rights Project - King County Equity Now - Africatown Community Land Trust For the sake of getting as many eyes on this post as possible, I'm not including any external links here. ⬇ SCROLL TO THE COMMENTS ⬇ to find a link to a Google Doc featuring details and donation links for the organizations listed above. P.S. While Juneteenth and the abolition of slavery are certainly things to celebrate, it's important to recognize that we don't live in a "post-racial" world. To learn about what happened *after* the formal abolition of slavery (i.e., how slavery as an institution was transmuted into the US prison system), check out Ava DuVernay's award-winning documentary 13th on Netflix. #juneteenth #racialjustice #DEI #racialequity #donate

🌈 Despite being more likely to identify as LGBTQIA , young people are less likely to be out at work. In 2020, only 24.5% of LGBTQIA individuals aged 18-24 were out to everyone they work with. We need your help to change this! Your tax-deductible donation supports Out For Australia's national mentoring programs, helping LGBTQIA young people thrive and be their authentic selves at work. 💖 Donate today and make a difference: https://lnkd.in/giCBXXGh * AWEI 2020 Practice Points: Key Findings, Pride in Diversity, ACON #SupportLGBTQIA #OutForAustralia #DonateNow

#BAMEOnline started out as an annual conference calling out racism in the charity sector. In the years since, we have grown both as a consultancy and a political education platform. We recognise that the systems of white supremacy, patriarchy, queerphobia, imperialism and more, are all inextricably linked. It's not enough to call out these systems, the goal is to eradicate them and make charity obsolete. We're evolving to better reflect those commitments. #Uncharitable will encompass everything you love about #BAMEOnline. Expect even more disruptive and unflinching critique of the sector, as well as radical hopeful alternatives in service of a liberated world.

I'm hearing this a lot from brands right now... 👇 'We're trying to wean ourselves off the discount drug but it's hard to do at the moment'. This is music to my ears. Charitable promotions don't feel like a promotion. It's a completely different interaction for brands and customers. Psychologically, this is why... 🎯 Own Your Discount: The Endowment Effect When you donate to unlock a discount, you’re invested in it. It’s not just a discount, it’s 'your' discount and that sense of ownership makes it more valuable to you. 🛒 Spend More, Save More: The Sunk Cost Fallacy Donated to get your discount? Now you’re motivated to make it count. The small ‘investment’ in charity, nudges you to want to maximise the saving. How? By spending more. 😇 Feel-Good Shopping: The Warm Glow Effect Doing something good makes us feel good - and brands that make us feel good, are ones we’ll shop with again. It’s that simple. The outcome? Happy, loyal customers. 🔒 Quality, Not Cheapness: Busting the Cognitive Bias Typically, discounts make a product seem ‘cheap’. By making the discount a reward for a good deed, it turns it into a signal of high quality, social awareness and exclusivity. The donation provides an ethical and ‘premium’ context for the discount. ... A year ago this was all just theory. But over the last few months, Space NK have proven it beyond doubt. 💸 £40,000 raised for charity across three promotions 📈 9,000 customers donated before going on to spend more than double Space NK's Average Order Value ( 👋 Sunk Cost Fallacy) 🛍 Conversions increased by over 10% Our mission is to turn Space NK from the exception into the blueprint. We've got some exciting things lined up over the next few months that I'm sure are going to help. #promotions #charity
Bursting with Pride!🏳️🌈 Across the month of June, we celebrated Pride at Space NK and what an event it was! As part of the activity, we teamed up with LGBTQIA helpline Switchboard, asking our community to donate £5 to Switchboard in return for a unique 20% off code. In total, all our Pride activity raised £18,958! Thank you to everyone who took part and donated and a big thank you to POGO for helping facilitate this promotion. We are delighted to be helping Switchboard continue on their mission to provide a safe space for anyone to discuss anything from gender identity, sexual health or emotional wellbeing. #spacenk #pride #pogo #pridemonth
