Talking about change is good. But action is better. We’re launching something special. Austin started The Gen Z Club to empower and inspire young people through networking events. I started DIVERSE. to get young people hired and build careers they can be proud of. We’re coming together to host an early careers fair introducing hundreds looking for internships, apprenticeships and grad schemes to employers. And sharing insights that will help shape their careers. This is exactly the type of event I’d wish I’d gone to. I’m a big believer in: If you want to see it. Create it. For talent teams wanting to meet and hire a diverse mix of ambitious young people join brands like Lloyds, Knight Frank, Capital One, Diageo and Warner Bros Discovery by attending, hosting an employer stand or joining a panel talk. I learned that when it comes to interviews, the "elevator pitch" is a great way to summarize who you are and what you are looking for. I look forward to using this strategy in the future.

Intern Signing Day Recap: We have spent this week welcoming our Summer 2024 Interns for the Yates Central & South Texas Division! Our Internship is truly one of a kind and is very competitive. Between last September and March, we attended 9 Career Fairs, met hundreds of students, conducted 3 Intern Hiring events, interviewed 35 students, and offered 14 internships. All of that led up to a very exciting and much anticipated “signing day” on Monday! Nothing easy is worth having and these students are ready to put in the work! This summer all 14 Interns will be closely mentored and given the opportunity to learn construction on our mega projects. Having this type of experience is not easily obtained and will take them very far in their careers. Being able to lead and build relationships over the next 10 weeks with each of these individuals is a true honor for me! We have a full summer planned for them where they will be on a rotation schedule to gain hands on experience in the top 3 roles they are most interested in pursuing upon completion of school. Q: Hey Michael, how long have you been with Heritage? A: Hey! I’ve been with Heritage for about 4.5 years now, starting with internships and then moving into part-time, and full-time roles. Q: Where did you go to college, and what did you major in? A: I studied Accounting at Duquesne University. Q: How did you first discover Heritage? How did you find your internships? 🔎: Through Handshake, career fairs, and talking with Kathy Lund at the Pancratz Center! How did the Pancratz Center help? 📋: "Talking with Kathy and Brianna really helped me to feel more confident about my internships and major and discovering new opportunities. I also love the career closet and professional headshot services." Favorite part about your internships 💚: "I absolutely love the people at AgCountry and getting to specialize in the farming industry. I also loved the wide variety of experience I got at Brady Martz and how I could work in many different industries doing their taxes and audits." Advice to other students searching for an internship 📢: "Talk to your professors and the Pancratz Center because they'll likely be willing to connect you with internship representatives or suggest opportunities. Also, take a chance and just apply for the internship or do more than one. You have so much flexibility to easily explore multiple internships before graduating!"
