Our Human Resources team recently volunteered at St. Luke’s Soup Kitchen, which provides hundreds of hot meals to those in need every week. We’re thankful for opportunities like this to give back to our local community in Midtown Manhattan.

Here's a little bit of a different #SafetyTopic -- Water Safety. It's pool, lake, and beach season, and taking a swim is a great way to cool off. But water needs to be respected! This summer, take steps to make sure your loved ones -- especially kids -- are safe in and around the water. In my years with the Y, some of the key things we talked about when it comes to water safety are: 🙋♂️Make sure kids know they need to ask permission before getting in the water. Make it a habit. The child gets permission, and an adult is aware! 👀 While all adults should be paying attention, consider creating shifts with designated "Water Watchers." His or her job is to watch the summer fun like a hawk with no distractions. 📵 Put your phone down! Especially the Water Watcher. 💦 Don't just watch: Get in! Model safe behavior in and around water! 🏊♀️ And finally, the best way to keep kids safe around water is to enroll in swim lessons. The Y (YMCA) invented swim lessons, and there are Ys in communities across the country. Many (Most? All?) provide support for families to participate in programs like swim lessons, even if they are struggling financially. And if you're an adult who can't swim, The Y offers adult swim lessons as well! Will you commit to being a Water Watcher this summer? #watersafety #summertime
Today was SPLASH Day and we are so grateful to our volunteers and sponsors who helped us impact hundreds of Greenville kids today. Especially Kiwanis International who provided vouchers for YMCA swim lessons for underserved communities. For SPLASH Day, we offered free water safety lessons at Prisma Health Family YMCA, Caine Halter Family YMCA, Eastside Family YMCA, and The Sullivan Apartments. Participants learned how to save themselves and others if they or a friend becomes distressed in the water. I bring people and technology together | Corner Office Consultants | Future Forward Your Team | ex-Deloitte ex-Walt Disney World
It's not about how much time you have, it's how you spend it. One of my team members had a goal to volunteer, but couldn't figure out when to do it even with Volunteer Time Off time allowed. I suggested they pick a day, request the time off now and plan to volunteer at that time. This morning, I volunteered at Hope Helps to pack bags of food for local children so they can have food during spring break. We packed 182 bags. How do you find ways to turn time into quality time? #volunteering #timemanagement #qualitytime

Community Spotlight: Julie Workman's Heartwarming Volunteer Journey 🌍 Why Operation Christmas Child? I chose to volunteer with Operation Christmas Child because it aligns with the passion of our church. Each year, we come together to gather items that bring joy to children and families in need worldwide. It's a powerful way for us to be the hands and feet of the Lord, spreading love and hope to those less fortunate. 💡 A Glimpse into the Impactful Experience: Walking into the processing center was truly eye-opening. Witnessing the dedication and effort it takes to bring the boxes from our churches to the final steps before shipping was remarkable. Each box is meticulously examined to ensure it radiates the love of Jesus, providing a moment of joy amid daily struggles for these children. 🤝 Advice for Colleagues Interested in Volunteering: Make it a mission to put smiles on faces, not just for self-gratification, but because you genuinely want to make a difference in someone else's life. Embrace volunteer work with the intention of bringing joy and positive change. Together, let's create a ripple effect of love and kindness! #HCJCommunityInvolvement #VolunteerJourney #MakingADifference

Every interaction can teach you valuable lessons you can carry forward into other areas of your life. Daniel Cakora here again to share some reflections. Vendavo offers 16 hours of annual paid volunteer time to each employee so we can all give back to causes that matter to us. But this is something my family does outside of that. This year I volunteered for the Jackson Chance Foundation, and this one really hit home for me. Jackson Chance Foundation assists families with NICU-bound children by covering parking fees. My son spent a significant amount of time in the NICU, so I know what that’s like. Not having to worry about expensive parking fees during such a trying time was a weight off our shoulders for my wife and me. It gave us the freedom to visit our son, step away to run errands, and come back to spend more time with him – all without additional financial stress layered atop everything else. This cause means so much to us that we set aside money on birthdays and the anniversary of our son’s “come home day” to make contributions. There are little lessons like that everywhere. Openings for solutions that can help make others’ days a little less stressful or a little easier. Opportunities that matter a lot to the people on the other end of the experience. As Benjamin Franklin said, “When you’re good to others, you’re best to yourself.” https://lnkd.in/g547y64Z #vendavo #employeetakeover #jacksonchance #jcf

#Success takes on a profound meaning when it extends beyond personal accomplishments and involves #givingback to the community, lifting others up, and creating a positive #impact. Individual effort can only take you so far, and such, the true essence of success lies in collective efforts that contribute to the well-being and growth of others. Over the course of December, our dedicated team of volunteers embarked on Community Nights at Victory Family Centre. The impact was remarkable, with more than 450 new connections established in just the past two days. This outreach extended from engaging with children to the elderly, fostering relationships that bridged generations and brought together diverse members of our local community with support of our MPs. In the weeks ahead, our commitment goes beyond local boundaries as we aim to extend the spirit of giving to greater communities, including migrant workers who often stand as unsung heroes in our society. The Community Nights were not just about charitable deeds but also about creating memorable experiences. Free food and drinks provided a foundation for building connections, while activities such as carolling, face painting, and hourly light shows added a layer of joy and festivity. Our community came together to bask in the spirit of Christmas, fostering a sense of unity and shared happiness. As I round off anchoring the first two of five days of Community Nights this December, it is an affirmation that: • Collaboration is the key to create impact, • A team of people smarter and better than you will drive victory when obstacles strike, and • Success is not only achieved but also #shared. If you’re interested in checking it out for yourselves in any of our six locations or partnering with us in future runs, you can visit https://vfc.org/christmas/. Video by me.

As the seasons change, it's an excellent time to make a positive impact in your community and beyond. Here are some simple yet impactful ways to make a difference: 1. **Support Local Businesses**: Show your support for small businesses in your area by shopping locally. Whether it's grabbing a coffee from a neighborhood cafe or purchasing gifts from independent stores, your support can help bolster the local economy and strengthen community ties. 2. **Express Gratitude to Others**: Take the time to express appreciation to those around you, whether it's family, friends, or colleagues. A heartfelt thank you or a kind gesture can brighten someone's day and foster a sense of connection and goodwill. 3. **Donate Your Time to an Organization You Like**: Volunteer your time and skills to a cause or organization that aligns with your values. Whether it's helping out at a local shelter, participating in a community cleanup, or volunteering at a food bank, giving back can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. By incorporating these simple actions into your daily life, you can create a ripple effect of positivity and kindness that extends far beyond yourself. #CommunityImpact #SupportLocal #Gratitude #Volunteerism #GiveBack #CommunityEngagement #KindnessMatters #LocalCommunity #VolunteerWork #SocialResponsibility #SupportSmallBusiness #CommunitySupport #PositiveImpact #KindnessInAction #SpreadLove #HelpingOthers #CommunityService #MakeADifference #SocialGood #GivingBack #VolunteerOpportunities #SupportLocalBusinesses #Thankfulness #CommunityBuilding #LocalSupport #SmallActsOfKindness #NeighborlyLove #GratitudeAttitude #PayItForward #SupportCommunity
