🤝 Hi-Acts Exchange: Meet Hi-Acts at the upcoming TUM Expert Forum which starts on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in Garching on the premises of the TUM Technical University of Munich. 👉 We will be on site with a small booth to introduce our new Innovation Platform to the participants during the breaks. The VDI e.V. Technical Committee 101 has chosen a particularly exciting topic this time: 🌱 Non-destructive testing and sustainable energy technology of the future. This time, the 9th TUM Expert Forum will focus on the tasks and challenges for non-destructive testing in the expansion of sustainable #energy technology. Experts from industry and research will explain the underlying methods and present corresponding applications. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the experts and present their own problems in the form of one-to-one discussions and a panel discussion. Those interested will have the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the reactor at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Research Neutron Source (FRM II) to see the complex instruments and experimental setups that are also used for industrial research projects. Registration and further information in the attached link. The number of participants is limited! 👉 You can register here: https://lnkd.in/g8w9HVVs #HiActsExchange #TUM

🎉Congratulations🎉 to Dr Matthew Kratzer on successfully completing his #PhD by a thesis titled: 💠Fluid Transport and Boundary Models in Nanoscale Flows💠 Dr Kratzer’s thesis addresses the need for efficient gas storage and transport in the context of a decarbonized energy grid. With a focus on hydrogen storage using nanomaterials, the research explores the unique properties and behaviour of fluids at the nanoscale, particularly the tangential momentum accommodation coefficient (#TMAC), which models momentum transfer at smooth atomic surfaces. Dr Kratzer introduces an analytical method to estimate #TMAC and applies it to study fluid flows through nanopores using a Fokker-Planck model. The research reveals the effects of interfacial resistance and Knudsen number on gas transport, aiding the development of future energy systems. Dr Kratzer will graduate at the upcoming ceremony to be held on 10 July 2024👨🎓. #UQ #SoMME #researchexcellence #energysystems

Fuel cells characterized with high energy density, definitely are promising energy storage and conversion systems. Multiscale modeling framework can be helpful in designing sustainable methods of such energy conversion technologies. Today representing my research group from Silesian University of Technology , Sachin Poudel successfully presented our ongoing work related to multiscale design of fuel cell materials in the 17th European Congress and Exhibition on Advanced Materials and Processes - FEMS EUROMAT 2023 conference (https://euromat2023.com/). The title of the presentation was " Multi-phase field evolution in Ni-YSZ Fuel Cells with Temperature-Dependent Elasticity". This ongoing work entails the international cooperation among researchers from three research institutions - Sachin Poudel, Anna Timofiejczuk and myself from the Silesian University of Technology, Nele Moelans from the KU Leuven and Dhruba Panthi from the Kent State University. This work is being supported by the NCN National Science Centre , Poland. #phasefieldmethod #3Dprintedfuelcellmaterial #dft #elasticitytensor #scalebridgingsimulations #experimentalvalidation #energyconversion

💧 Reversible changing the wetting behaviour of carbon nanotubes – Project B02 is a collaboration between the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Dr. Patrick Kißling is working with Prof. Raimund Horn (Institute for Chemical Reaction Technology, TUHH), Dr. Gökhan Gizer (TUHH), Prof. Christian Schroer (DESY) and Dr. Thomas Sheppard (X-Ray Microscopy in Catalysis, KIT) on the in situ diagnostics and control of electrowetting of carbon nanotubes. In situ experiments at DESY using synchrotron X-rays will provide a detailed understanding of the catalysis process. 💡 The idea is to reversibly switch the CNT surface from superhydrophobic to hydrophilic enabling a smart material, which could protect the catalyst, sitting on the CNT surface, from poisoning. #SMARTreactors #TUHH #Technischistdasmöglich #TUHamburg #engineeringtofaceclimatechange #DESY #synchrotron #CarbonNanotubes #ChemicalWetting
