We’ve got another packed weekend of Piing lined up, with games at some of the most gripping sports events on the calendar. The Italian Riviera is the setting for the fourth leg of the Union Cycliste Internationale MTB World Series 2024 at Finale Outdoor Region, arguably the most iconic enduro destination of them all. Race fans get to play our MTB game in fanzones in association with adi.tv, across the three days of the event, from today until Sunday. Meanwhile, the Formula E World Championship pulls into Berlin for rounds 10 and 11, and we’ve got some supercharged racing lined up in the fanzones, in association with adi.tv. Switching engines to BTCC, we’re with Team Bristol Street Motors at the iconic Brands Hatch on Saturday and Sunday. Fans, and BTCC drivers, will play the BSM EXCLER8-branded game at the #MeetAtTheStreet fanzone. In Football, up to 50,000 FC Köln fans will take part in the last half-time REWE Quiiz of the season, delivered by brands and emotions GmbH. Over in the US, Charlotte FC play Nashville in the 6th home match of the season and we’ll be there along with shirt sponsor Ally to provide some Piing Pen-kick action delivered by MKTG at half-time. Phones at the ready, fun to the max! #events #EventGaming #InteractiveEntertainment #EventExperiences #EventPlanners #EventMarketing #EngagingExperiences #EventTechnology #sportsTech #eventTech #massparticipation #brandengagement #brandactivation

I attended my first-ever SailGP event this past weekend in NYC with ROLEX. I was blown away by what I saw and experienced. We are talking about a series that races catamarans at 100kph, with no brakes, no fuel (powered by nature - which is also their slogan), six crew members who constantly have to change sides on the boat during the race and there are no less than 38 Olympic medals across the crew. It's a spectacle on and off the water. First, it's a relatively new racing series (2018) in its 4th season. There are ten teams with six crew members on each team - some with slightly larger rosters. Each team has at least one woman aboard (not mandated) but it is a co-ed series which is already proving to be incredibly relevant and useful. Boats may not know if it's a man or a woman onboard, but the athletes sure can tell if something is built and designed with them in mind. Secondly, similarly to F1, both data and aerodynamics play a huge role in this series. There are 125 sensors creating 35,000 data points per second, per boat (the F50). Unlike F1, the data is available to all the teams (they just need to know what to look and ask for). They can ask for detailed and in-depth reports on, for example, how their team did compared to another which can be a unique report for their eyes only. Also, fans can have access to all the data. The boats don't actually race on the water, rather they glide 1.4m in the air using hydrofoils, ultimately racing at four times the speed of the wind. Thirdly, currently, the teams race under a national flag, with two teams having title sponsors - the Emirates Great Britain team and Rockwool Denmark. I wonder if this will change as the sport gets more popular and more sponsors enter this space. One thing that probably won't change though is the fact that this is a spec series (unlike the America's Cup) - all the F50s are built and provided by the series. Every team is racing the same boat, using the same gear and software - it all comes down to talent, tactics and strategy. I spent some time inside the Oracle insights tech hub and with the SailGP tech team to get a better understanding of the data points and what the teams are looking at. I spent some time with Hannah Mills, the most successful female sailor in Olympic history and a member of the Emirates Great Britain team. And I also got to go on a 'chase' boat' watching the race from what can only be described as a 'front row seat to the action'. This isn't sailing. This is high-speed racing. And these aren't sailors, but rather high-caliber athletes and it's absolutely incredible to watch. Race weekend debrief here - https://lnkd.in/gPKtmWvW

CEO & Managing Partner of O‘NEAL 🏍 MX , Adventure, Trail Riding, Freeride, Downhill & Enduro I 50 Years in Business I Mountain Bike, Moto Cross, E-MX & Motorcycle | We want to leave a footprint in our Industry
Now it is getting political: The Stark Varg was confirmed by FIM to participate in Super Enduro in Lievin this weekend, rider Taddy Blazusiak. Thursday FIM cancelled their participation, because of „safety reasons“. Paddock rumours say other manufacturers have tried to prevent their participation. If this is true, they take this bike and other manufacturers like Flux f.e. now very serious and maybe do not want to be beaten by an E-MX on WC level. We heard on EICMA that other manufacturers admitted they underestimated the degree of openness of the MX market for E-MX. I am afraid Triumph & Ducati made maybe wrong strategic decisions to enter MX market with combustion technology & have to fight in the future with the Pierer Group & the Japanese for a much smaller combustion engine market. Remember: Stark got over 20.000 orders & this is a significant market share in MX. We believe this is at least 25% of the annual volume of MX bikes, disregarding sports enduros. Stark was a brand, that nobody knew in 2021, no bikes could be seen in person, no distribution network, no marketing history, no brand awareness & no quality image, no 🏁 🏆 until today. Remarkable. Only a video showing a prototype & the specs. Then 1,5 years delay in shipping and now they are on the tracks and everybody we know, that has ridden the Varg, is pretty enthusiastic.

The report above shows the record of winners who participated in the global bicycle race from 1903 to 2022. From this report, most winners of this challenge are from France. The country has produced a total of sixteen winners, which their competitive advantage will be discussed below. Overall, there has been a total of 49 teams from fifteen different countries, who have participated in this tournament, with the average age of winners being 28 years Old. From this data, it can be advised that future participants who want to stand a chance of winning should be around 44.88 kg in weight and 1.15m tall, as the average speed needed to win the race is 34.55 km per hour. However, age seems to be a weak determinant of who is likely to win the race as data shows that France has recorded sixteen winners who are mostly age 27, Belgium on the other hand, has recorded nine winners who are 29 years and Germany only has one winner who is 24 years old. A more accurate and controllable determinant is weight, French winners were observed to weigh around 40 kg with an average speed of 33.41km/hr, whereas Irish and German winners (1) were recorded to weigh within 73 to 74 kg with an average speed of 39.30Km/hr. Hence, weight can be taken as a higher variable that increases the chance of winning the Tour De France. For anyone interested in the challenge, data has shown that you are not too old to participate and possibly win the Tour De France. Good Luck 👍 #powerbidashboard #powerbidesktop #dataanalysis

⚖️🚴Will cycling finally get the political support and attention it deserves in 2024? 𝐖𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤: 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭. We commend the cycling associations in Europe (big shout out to Cycling Industries Europe, Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry - CONEBI, ZIV Zweirad-Industrie-Verband e.V., Zukunft Fahrrad , Radlogistikverband Deutschland e.V. and more) for all of their great work. Especially the adoption of the proposal for the 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 in 2023 marked a significant milestone. Nonetheless, we are skeptical that investments in infrastructure, safety and economic support for the sector is going to take off in 2024. There are EU elections, a movement to the liberal right across multiple countries, and the trend on local level has been backwards rather than forwards. However, we believe it’s still the right time for the industry to address a few areas for improvement to make itself an attractive field of investment and support for politicians. More on that in our recent blog post on the trends of the bicycle industry in 2024 (𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 👇🏻) What changes do you see on the political horizon for the cycling industry in 2024?

Looking forward to the Rugby World Cup this weekend. The Springboks (South Africa) and All Blacks (New Zealand) are long time rivals who represent the spirit of sportsmanship and competition. Both teams are vying for a historic fourth World Cup title, with South Africa the defending champions. Both nations also share rugby as the de facto national sport, both nations have a deeply passionate fan base that stretches across boundaries as a source of national pride. In South Africa Bok Friday is a thing, many people wear various Bokke regalia and/or supporter shirts. Green and Gold runs deep here. In this spirit with a client (Trailwolf Cycles) we ran a light hearted post parodying Springbok prop and scrum legend Ox Nché posting a picture on social media. “Salads don’t win scrums” We did our own take on this with portraits of retail head, Vusi, who also comes from a rugby background. We used this to blend into a broader caption offering tips for riders while still tying into the shop’s various lifestyle options. It works because sport and outdoor recreation is heavily intertwined, plus there are a number of ex/current rugby players who use cycling to stay active and fit. Ultimately it comes down to, bikes are for everyone. ~ Salads don’t win bike rides. - @vuyisilefeleza Trailwolf Retailogist Sorry Ox, we’re huge #bokke fans! Our Connected Coffee Co serve up some divine treats to go with your pre or post ride coffee. With Trailwolf being a popular ride and servicing destination for road and MTB alike, centrally located within Modderfontein and the reserve. By dealing with such an inclusive grouping of rider we’re always able and willing to assist. Vusi has two tips which are most often applicable. 1) For newbies, ditch the underwear. Trust us on this, it will save you a lifetime of chafing drama. A decent quality pair of tights with padding will keep your derrière happy, allowing to focus on your riding. 2) This is for everyone and is a basic rule for any outdoor activity. Plan and share your ride. Have an idea of how long it will take you, how far and within your limits. Make sure you have enough water, at least 500ml for an hour and a small snack. If not in a group or with a partner. Let someone know your route and timing. Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions in store, Vusi and the team are always happy to guide you. Grab some cake for the vibes! ~ https://lnkd.in/dWqGc_vG
