Dear Elif Albayrak You always challenge us with questions that truly matter.  When you asked why advertising agencies and people who supported #Ukraine or #BLM in the past are silent now, I was left without an answer.  The truth is, I'm still unsure. Could it be that agencies fear that speaking out may affect their customer base? Or could it be that the ongoing global suffering doesn't resonate as deeply because it doesn't directly involve white or black individuals but, rather, the Palestinian community?  I can't say for sure. However, one thing is clear: the pain resonates deeply, not just with you. But also within our friends and colleagues.  The people we work with on sets or use as a model. The silence from our industry in the face of such suffering pains me too. At HERC, we take a stand.  We share our thoughts and ideas, and will engage in initiatives that demonstrate our support for the Palestinian people who have endured years of oppression and suffering. Is it enough? I don't know. But, Elif Albayrak, continue being the voice of dissent in the room.  We stand beside you because the current Palestinian situation is unacceptable, and no one should turn a blind eye to it. From the river to the sea. Palestine will be free. https://lnkd.in/ejxVP-3m

There I am. Again, writing a post on LinkedIn. And repeating myself again. Being the "difficult person" in the room. I feel ashamed and lonely in this advertising industry that is preaching about social impact. But is remaining silent during a genocide. I feel ashamed how every "diversity hero" that was preaching for change is silent and scared to share something. I feel that most of the people that gave me hope, are the same people that opened my eyes that we have lost our humanity. I've seen all of you creating a project for Ukraine. I've seen all of you "choosing a side". I've seen all of you "forcing" your employees to give voice for a situation while they were even struggling with their own feelings. I've seen all of you making your own PR and seeing the pain of others as crypto. I've seen all of you selecting and deciding who's pain will bring you more views. I've seen the best performance in my life in the industry that was preaching change. We are witnessing hell on earth. And we know that we all can bring change to situations. Or even awareness was enough. Even the smallest thing can wake up someone. But no-one felt the urge to do something. I am no longer here to ask you to actually do something. So again, you can practice the same thing and bring your own PR because someone asked you to do so. I am happy that we have a new generation that is stepping up for change. Thanks to all of you for opening my eyes. Thanks to all the people that are sharing everything for years - and not only the past week from their heart. Thanks to all the people that just sparked me a bit of hope in this situation by sharing their grief and sharing their own story and struggle. And thanks to a small group of people that are not scared to get into action. Translation for the image: The best headline I have seen in the past week. "Israel massacred humanity".

The only agency in Amsterdam that I've seen take that step. It's never too late. Thanks for this public support. Looking forward to actions that follow 🙏🏽
