Crossing the Atlantic ocean with a balloon… We are not in the 1930s but in 2024 and CNES, the French space agency, just did it! 🎈The TRANSAT experiment has just landed in Canada after taking off from Sweden a few days ago. Onboard the gigantic zero-pressure stratospheric balloon of 800,000 m3 (almost 6 times the volume of the Arc de Triomphe), supplied by HEMERIA, was a 900 kg payload composed of French, European and Canadian scientific instruments and equipment. The goal of TRANSAT is to demonstrate the ability of this kind of stratospheric balloon to fly for longer duration and thus to address new scientific missions onboard balloons. 🎉Congratulations CNES for your transatlantic flight! Watch the replay of the TRANSAT take off at 4:33:54 on this video by SSC - Swedish Space Corporation 👉 https://lnkd.in/eUrawKXH To know more about the TRANSAT campaign ➡️ follow the link in comments

Space tourism will begin in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) next year, as reported by The News. According to a Gulf newspaper, Kemel Kharbachi, the founder and CEO of European space company EOS-X Space, announced that space flights will start in Abu Dhabi and Spain around the third quarter of 2025. EOS-X SPACE is developing the Spaceship One manned capsules and plans to conduct essential validation tests with military pilots in collaboration with Spain’s National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA). These pressurized capsules can hold up to eight people, including a pilot, and are lifted by an eco-friendly helium balloon. The capsules will reach the edge of the stratosphere at an altitude of 40,000 meters, providing space tourists with stunning views of space, the blue halo, and Earth’s curvature during a five-hour trip. This contrasts with Blue Origin’s 11-minute rocket flight. #SpaceTourism #UAE #EOSXSpace #SpaceFlights #AbuDhabi #Spain #SpaceTravel #Stratosphere #SpaceExploration #FutureOfTravel #SpaceCapsules #INAT #SustainableTravel #Cohortmax

🚀 Let me tell you about ARIANESPACE, a European launch provider that's on a mission to revolutionize space travel with the Ariane 6 rocket! 🌌 Founded in 1980, Arianespace was the world's first commercial launch services provider. It's a joint venture between Airbus Defence and Space, Safran, and the French space agency CNES. 🌍 With the support of the European Investment Bank and the European Commission, Arianespace has secured over €100 million in funding! 💰 They're collaborating with a network of hundreds of companies across 13 European countries, led by the prime contractor ArianeGroup, to develop Ariane 6. 🤝 Now, let's talk about Ariane 6. It's a game-changer! 🚀 This European rocket is designed to replace the Ariane 5 and is capable of launching large payloads, even to Mars! 🛰️ What's really exciting is that Ariane 6 is designed to be reusable, making space travel more sustainable. It comes in two versions, Ariane 62 with two strap-on boosters and Ariane 64 with four strap-on boosters, depending on the mission's requirements! 🚀 But like all great endeavors, Ariane 6 has faced its share of challenges. Technical issues, the impact of COVID-19, and design changes caused some delays, as reported by Reuters. 🦠🔧 The inaugural launch, originally planned for 2020, is now set for 2024. The scientific community and influential publications haven't weighed in on Ariane 6's potential for Mars missions just yet. 🤔 But here's the deal – the development of Ariane 6 has the potential to change the space industry as we know it. Reusable and capable of launching hefty payloads to Mars, it's a rocket that could take us to new heights! 🌠🔴 #Arianespace #Ariane6 #SpaceExploration #MarsMissions https://lnkd.in/g6WD6q3M

The stages that make up the central core of Europe’s new rocket, Ariane 6, have left mainland Europe and are heading towards Europe’s spaceport in French Guiana. Shipping across the Atlantic, the main stage and upper stage were loaded into the purpose-built hybrid sailing ship Canopée at the harbours of Bremen, Germany, and Le Havre, France. Canopée left the port of Le Havre carrying the last elements that will form the first Ariane 6 rocket to soar into space. Canopée is scheduled to arrive at the port of Pariacabo in Kourou, French Guiana, by the end of February. From there, the two stages will be transported by truck the last few kilometres to Europe’s Spaceport. The two stages that are now en route to French Guiana form Ariane 6’s central core. They will be connected horizontally at Europe’s Spaceport before being transported a few kilometres to the launch area and lifted upright. Once upright, two boosters will be added for Ariane 6’s first flight; they are already in French Guiana. Lastly, the upper composite fairing – a nosecone that splits vertically in two – and the payloads will be attached on the launch pad.
