Drilling Supervisor at Vale

Drilling cuts, Although beautiful to see the alignment of drill holes, it’s quite a challenge due to the loss of depth caused by the drill ships returning into the hole, I would like to know, how do you prevent loss of depth in the holes at your mine?

On the route I took in Desmonte through Ei/Orica through the Vale/Vulcan project, one of the main methods is the placement of a gasbag

First of all collaring the with alot of water applied just at beginning, while Drilling to planned depth keep of flushing/reaming to achieve a quality hole while observing wet chippings are coming out and a meter before target depth open enough water to cement the Blast 🕳 hole even if it's broken ground the hole will stand up to planned depth even it will take time to be charged,Water,Rotation,Flushing/Reaming and Feed is the only key

Hi Helton, It should be included in your SOP for drill operators to flush the holes after drilling and there after put blast hole covers (cones) to prevent chippings from falling back inside.
