We are happy to announce that the Interreg North Sea Programme approved our project 'Super Smart Charging Hubs' (SSCH) recently! A Super Smart Charging Hub is an energy system where sustainable energy is generated and used locally for charging multiple (25–50) BEVs and to balance the grid (V2Grid, V2Battery or V2Building and vice versa). It includes a ‘virtual power plant’ that aggregates energy within a portfolio. This does not require all assets / components of a system to be geographically close. By adding a virtual layer, components of the portfolio exchange energy. The project, coordinated by the province of Zeeland, aims to work towards solutions for costly electricity grid reinforcements due to increased demand for electricity from EV's. The project will address this challenge by supporting at least 25 SMEs to develop innovative solutions for these super smart charging hubs and taking away / align regulatory hurdles, leading to new products and services. This will result in more charging infrastructure and a reduced need for energy grid investments by operators and society. To inspire stakeholders, three SSCH Living Labs will be created : in Vlissingen (NL), Flanders (BE) and Helsingborg (SE). More content will follow the oncoming 3 years.

📣 Funding alert! The City of Salo - Salon kaupunki and Turun yliopisto - University of Turku of funded 4 new projects. One of them is a joint project led by Profs. Pekka Peljo and Kati Miettunen focusing on home energy management systems (HEMS) 🏡 for the duration of 2024-2026. The team developing the project idea also included Dr. Sami Jouttijärvi and Mr. Lauri Karttunen. 🌞🔋 Solar panels and batteries in individual households have become more common due to lower prices and the green transition, and this development has made HEMS operational strategies an important research topic. The HEMS strategy refers to coordinating a household's energy production, consumption and storage, considering the limitations of the energy system and the household (e.g., home heating). Various HEMS strategies have been studied extensively globally, but the conditions in Finland create special challenges due to, for example, large variations in solar energy production and high heating demand. Those Nordic challenges are the focus of this new project. #GreenEnergy #ResearchInnovation 📸 by Mikael Nyberg

To my UK network, you might need to engage some Google translate options to understand this! What it shows is the starting of EON Drive Infrastructure's pilot learning into dynamic pricing at our EV Chargers in Copenhagen. A lot of effort is being placed on getting hardware in the ground not only in the UK, but across Europe too. That solves some of the short term challenges on the availability of EV charging infrastructure, but work should not stop there. Price is often the next conversation that follows. This program will dynamically alter the price based on site demand and live energy prices. It is expected to offer up to a 50% saving on per kWh rate, from the typical amount charged in that region. As we continue our roll-out in the UK, we hope to bring the early learnings on this pilot, across to here too in due course! Anders Krag
We are thrilled to announce we have kicked of our dynamic pricing pilot test in Copenhagen yesterday. 🔋 🎉 👍 🤩 Together with E.ON Innovation the EDRI team has researched and designed a new pricing scheme for public EV-charging. Prices per kwh are adjusted dynamically during the day. At times when renewable energy is abundantly available, we provide discounts to EV-drivers of up to 50% - a win-win situation for the environment and our customers. Furthermore, it will improve utilization of the charging infrastructure and reduce traffic during peak times. To check out our dynamic prices and which chargers in Copenhagen are part of the pilot test please visit: https://lnkd.in/geAFJcHB And here are some initial press voices: DE: https://lnkd.in/gnpdGp6q DK: https://lnkd.in/gWaFnDVd Thank you so much to all you wonderful EDRI colleagues who made this happen! You are amazing 😘
