Wow! This is shocking but very true. Genomic testing is indeed a crucial aspect of personalized medicine and can significantly impact treatment decisions for cancer patients. As Howard McLeod stated about community oncology clinics “Many or most are not set up to quickly adapt to new models of care." Adapting to new models of care, advancements in treatment options, and staying up-to-date with the rapidly evolving field of genomics can be challenging for healthcare providers, particularly in busy clinical settings like oncology clinics. I have dedicated my career and my personal mission to educate on the role of genomic testing. I don’t see this getting simplified by any means but we have to do better from an industry standpoint and from a healthcare standpoint. Each and every patient diagnosed should have the same option’s no matter where they are treated. I am determined to bridge the gap and ensure that patients receive the most effective and personalized care possible. Continuing education, collaboration with other healthcare professionals, and staying informed about the latest developments in oncology and genomics are key strategies to navigate the complexities of the field. By sharing knowledge and expertise, we all are playing a vital role in advancing patient care and empowering others in the healthcare community. #knowledgeispower #personalizedtreatment #genomictesting #thisisforyoumom

Nivolumab is now the first and only subcutaneously administered PD-1 inhibitor. This is a step forward to improving the patient experience with immune checkpoint inhibitor therapies, reducing the administration time from 30-60 min with IV infusion to 3-5 min with SQ injection. An oral option would still be highly desirable to further enhance patient convenience. Will we see an orally-bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of PD-1/PD-L1 in the near future? A comprehensive review on actionable fusions in solid tumors, with a focus on challenges in detection, timing of testing and treatment

Great to see our ASCO abstract and poster being discussed in the press! 📰 Some of the highlights: 1. Our data shows that most patients with advanced NTRK fusion-positive solid tumors are not getting the right therapy, suggesting that targeted therapy for rarer and/or tissue agnostic alterations may get deprioritized or overlooked 2. Due to the rarity these alterations other personalized medicine drugs, chemotherapy, and immunotherapies may be prioritized- physicians could not be familiar with how to manage those patients with NTRK alterations so they revert to what they know 3.
