On June 11th, HealthRIGHT360 in collaboration with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation celebrated Father’s Day at 6th Street Residential with a special “FATHER AND ME” event. MCRP clients welcomed their children to a red carpet walk and were presented with a flower corsage. Children and fathers proceeded to take fun photos at the photo booth. Children enjoyed a special catered dinner with their fathers while the DJ played Father to Child songs. Clients read meaningful and emotional poems to their children. Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19th, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Originating in Galveston Texas in 1865, Juneteenth marks the day when Union General Gordon Granger announced the end of slavery, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln. This day, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, has evolved into a celebration of African American culture, heritage, and achievements. Juneteenth festivities include parades, festivals, concerts, and educational events. These gatherings often feature traditional African American music, dance, food, and storytelling, highlighting the resilience and contributions of the African American community. This month, HealthRIGHT 360 honors Juneteenth and the continued battle towards racial equality for all African Americans. In celebration, the HealthRIGHT 360 African American Healing Center (AAHC) highlights creative expression as cultural advocacy and encourages the community to reflect on progress made while acknowledging the work that still needs to be done. Earlier this month we launched our year-long PSA campaign on MUNI buses. This PSA campaign highlights Narcan/Naloxone - a lifesaving, emergency medication, also known as an opioid antagonist, which can be used to reverse the effect of an opioid overdose when administered in a timely manner. HealthRIGHT 360 provides overdose prevention and response training with naloxone to staff at all of their facilities.
