Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19th, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Originating in Galveston Texas in 1865, Juneteenth marks the day when Union General Gordon Granger announced the end of slavery, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln. This day, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, has evolved into a celebration of African American culture, heritage, and achievements. Juneteenth festivities include parades, festivals, concerts, and educational events. These gatherings often feature traditional African American music, dance, food, and storytelling, highlighting the resilience and contributions of the African American community. This month, HealthRIGHT 360 honors Juneteenth and the continued battle towards racial equality for all African Americans. In celebration, the HealthRIGHT 360 African American Healing Center (AAHC) highlights creative expression as cultural advocacy and encourages the community to reflect on progress made while acknowledging the work that still needs to be done. Juneteenth is a day to celebrate Black resilience and unity and to educate and advocate for social change! #HealthRIGHT360 #Celebrate #Juneteenth
