Meet our awesome partner and cancer resiliency coach, Sunita! Her calm energy and warm presence makes the type of difference in the world that we could use more of :) 1. Sunita, what drove you to become a resiliency coach? It was intuition and an awareness of the hesitancy surrounding working with individuals dealing with cancer in the realms of coaching and functional medicine. I sensed a reluctance, possibly due to the overwhelming nature of cancer, but I firmly believe that there's no other time in life when really good support and guidance are more essential. 2. Why do you like working with cancer patients and/or families? Every day, I witness the incredible strength in people. Having the privilege to create a safe space for my clients, where they can delve into their thoughts and emotions, allows me to assist them in processing and instigating shifts that significantly enhance their lives. 3. What is your favorite thing to do? Choosing just one is nearly impossible! At the top of my list is getting in the ocean. Additionally, I find joy in dog walks and indulging in intellectually challenging podcasts. #Resiliency #TheCancerTeam #Strength

“All 3,000 people who work at the American Cancer Society know how to relate to their daily activity, whether that is plugging in a computer every day or directly improving the lives of cancer patients and their families. And if they can't do that, then I am not doing my job as CEO.” Dr. Karen Knudsen, CEO of the American Cancer Society, shared her approach to the role of CEO in our recent CEO Perspective series. Here are some of our key takeaways… 🚀 Be a Strategist, Not Just an Operator: A C-suite leader is a dot connecter. It's not just about day-to-day operations but about how your choices impact the broader goals and mission of the organization. 🌐 Connecting Diverse Elements: Dr. Knudsen highlighted the significance of connecting seemingly disparate areas, such as cancer research and neuroscience, within the healthcare sector. This ability to bridge gaps and see the bigger picture is crucial in today's complex business landscape. 🤝 The Value of Transparency: Admitting when you've fallen short and being open to feedback is essential for growth and progress within any organization. 🧠 Embrace Collective Intelligence: As a leader, it's not about being the smartest person in the room but recognizing and leveraging the collective intelligence of your team. Join us on Sep 22 for a conversation with Jason Hollar, CEO of Cardinal Health. Link in the comments. ⬇️ #AthenaSalon #WomenLeaders #ExecutiveEducation #CEO

Author | Speaker | Communications and Branding Specialist | Consultant in Workplace Cancer Support | Transforming Internal and External Communication Strategies
🎥 Episode 3: Clear Messaging: Ensure your communication is clear, concise, and free of jargon 🎥 The series, Cancer and Business – Lessons in resilience and strategy continues. Today’s advice is about "Clear Messaging: Ensure your communication is clear, concise, and free of jargon.” Find it here and on my YouTube Channel https://lnkd.in/e5NMYCK6 In business, clear messaging means ensuring your communication is to the point and easy for all to understand. 🌟✉️ But did you know that this principle is just as crucial when dealing with cancer? 🌟 Just as businesses thrive by communicating clearly with their audience, navigating cancer involves having straightforward and understandable conversations with your healthcare team, loved ones, and colleagues. This clarity helps ensure everyone is on the same page and reduces misunderstandings. 💬🩺 For me, clear messaging meant asking direct questions about my treatment options, explaining my needs to my support network, and keeping my workplace informed about my condition and capabilities. By avoiding medical jargon and using plain language, I made sure that my communication was effective, and everyone understood my journey. 📋🗣️ Also, remember, communication comes in many forms. At work, simply how I wrote my out of office in my week off, post chemo, was carefully managed, ensuring I controlled the messaging in line with my version of cancer – a balance of honesty and professionalism. So, stay clear, stay direct, and remember: whether in business or in health, effective communication is key to navigating challenges and achieving success. 💪 If this resonates with you or you have a question, then go ahead and comment. Let’s build a community of support and empowerment. #ClearMessaging #CancerWarrior #SurvivorStory #Inspiration #BusinessAdvice #CancerJourney #CancerWorks 💪

Business Coach | Mentor | Speaker | Podcaster 🌟 One-To-One Coaching For Ambitious Business Owners Who Want To Unlock Success On Their Terms And Experience Financial And Time Freedom. 📨 [email protected]
Being busy might cost you your life... dramatic perhaps, but stay with me... In 2019, I found a lump in my left breast that I was too busy to have checked out. It will be nothing, I told myself, it's my son's birthday, Halloween, my daughter's birthday – Christmas. The business needs me, and I don't have the time to ring the doctor. 😱 Thankfully, due to my age, I received a letter inviting me to have a mammogram in January 2020, when my journey with breast cancer began. In March, the first week of lockdown, I had the lump removed, but I needed another operation and then a mastectomy to be cancer-free. This story could have been very different, and it is not lost on me that being busy might have resulted in me not being here for birthdays, never mind my business. We only get one incredible life; your business should not prevent you but enable you to live it. 💞 I know from experience that being busy is not the answer, which is why I'm excited to be hosting Supercharge Your Focus, a five-day free event which will guide you in defining success (business and personal). Will help you to create a business that supports you in doing more of what you love with those you love. An event that will move you from busy to focusing on what matters most in and out of the business. Register to join me here https://lnkd.in/eBVw88X3 and let your business be the vehicle to living your most incredible life, not the thing that stops you. #growth #success #focus #yourway #breastcancer

Modern Elder | Encore Entrepreneur | Coach | AI | Connector| Future Back Thinker | Speaker | Cancer Thriver
In writing my book I am documenting how I have applied the tools and techniques I have used over the past 50 years in business eg SPIN, Solution Selling, Future Back thinking to find the cause and develop a portfolio of solutions. Hence my book will apply to anyone looking to address the causes of major problems (health, life, business etc) and develop their vision of their solution using a portfolio approach. And how major life trauma eg Cancer can lead to entrepreneurial success in business. "Living Boldly with Cancer" i aim to reimagine the way we approach this complex disease, placing design thinking and the willingness to experiment at the core of our strategy. By embracing empathy and understanding, i believe we can develop solutions that resonate with patients on a deeper level. Future back thinking inspires us to work towards a transformed landscape where cancer care is more comprehensive and compassionate. Through bold experimentation and continuous refinement, we ignite innovation and foster breakthroughs that bring us closer to our vision. In this dynamic journey, patients and healthcare professionals can become co-creators of their cancer management, fostering a sense of empowerment and hope. By combining design thinking and the willingness to experiment, we shape a future where living boldly with cancer is not just a dream, but a reality filled with courage, optimism, and transformative possibilities. #LivingBoldlyWithCancer #CancerIsAnOpportunity

Business Coach and Charity Consultant building on 20 years experience as a CEO, Grants & Contracts Mgr - Inspire Youth Zone. Trustee - Aftermath Support
Planning is not just a good idea, it is essential for success; strategic planning, business planning, action planning and so on. There are innumerable tools to help with this but ultimately the implementation is key. Once you have your one-year, three- year or five-year plan, regularly reviewing it is just as important as preparing it in the first place. The world can change in a heartbeat and either the plan, or the method, or both, may need to be adapted. My cancer diagnosis was one of those situations forcing a swift reassessment. Now in remission I have again revised my plans for life, for work, for family with a lengthy bucket list. But I need to be vigilant, watch for changes and adapt if necessary. Chances are that the cancer won’t come back but statistically it is more likely than if I had never had it once. So, today, I am back at the Christie Cancer Hospital for the first of my regular screening checks over the next five years. There are changes I might see myself but others the specialists can see sooner, with their knowledge, experience and state-of-the-art equipment. Fingers crossed all will still be OK and I push on with my work and life plans but if not, I have the opportunity to adapt. As it is with our business or charity strategic plans or annual action plans. We are wise to set aside just a small amount of time to review, maybe bringing in another perspective too, someone who might spot something before you would, enabling you to adapt before it is too late. Why not take a few minutes today to check your work plans, your life plans and your lumps and bumps! The earlier we identify a problem, the better. #cancer #review #consultancy #coaching

Empowering Audiences to Find A Way Every Day | Keynote Inspirational Speaker, Leadership Speaker | Scout for Pittsburgh Steelers
It's been quite a journey since the summer of 2003 when I found myself in a chemotherapy chair, battling cancer. But today, I stand before you, not just as a survivor, but as a beacon of hope and resilience. During those challenging times, my dear friend Charley Lavalle did something extraordinary. He hired a film crew to document one of my chemotherapy sessions and asked me a series of questions that led to a powerful revelation. I shared how the words "Find A Way" had not only helped me realize my dreams but were now guiding me through the fight for my life. Charley's challenge to write a book about "Find a Way" and share it with the world was a pivotal moment. My response was simple: "Charley, if I survive cancer, I will write that book and share that message." Well, I did survive cancer, and today, my passion is to share the "Find A Way" philosophy to help others discover their own path in life. I am thrilled to announce that I am now booking 2024 speaking engagements to share the power of "Find A Way." Whether it's in a corporate setting, at a conference, or any event where inspiration and motivation are needed, I'm here to empower your team to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. If you believe in the power of resilience, determination, and finding a way to overcome obstacles, let's connect and discuss how I can inspire and motivate your team to reach new heights. Together, we can make the impossible possible. Click here to learn more: https://lnkd.in/ez8ZCPE Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey so far. Top Leadership Coach 2023/24. Top Executive Coach 2023. Business Coach of the Year 2022/23. I help private business owners achieve their top goals and increase net profit without wasting time or money.
The Day My World Stood Still “You will have to be operated on immediately, given the severity of your condition. We need to remove a basketball-size tumor, you have Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer.” I was in shock. These words were spoken to me at Dana Farber on May 18, 2018. As with everyone, there's a lot about me that you do not know that I would like to share with you at this time: -I just won 🎖 The Best Executive Business Advisor – August 2023 in the greater Boston area- given by Wealth & Finance International -I have 2 amazing sons I adopted at birth in the US from Texas & and Long Island. -I was voted Coach of the Year 🥇 in 2021-IATP -I have been a practicing Buddhist since 1980. -I am a 2x Ovarian Cancer Survivor who had to go through this journey with minimal support. You read it correctly. After I went through my first bout of cancer, it came back 3 years later. At least this time, I didn't have to lose my hair or have surgery. But I did have to go through chemotherapy, which was the worst. I am sharing this with you because through insurmountable odds, not only was I able to survive, but I thrived. How did I get through all of this? I looked within. Yes, I could handle this nightmare by making sure I was thinking positive thoughts and living in the present moment. I am a lot like you. I want to be the best I can be in my life and minimize the trauma of setbacks and daily challenges. When you are open and aligned with your authentic self, you can: * Minimize pain * Connect you with your authentic voice * Have clarity around your decisions * Get rid of stress * Reduce anxiety and much more…. So, what is your authentic higher self? It is the part of you that is beyond the ego. It's your true nature and your higher self. It operates in the present moment and helps you become mindful of your words, actions, and thoughts. Every one of us gets off track and does not know how to find our way home. I will be sharing more of this story in my next post~ #cancer #trueself #womenentrepreneurs #womeninbusiness
