This is something interesting that I came across. Brain is the most abused organ. We do not organise our thought, we feedback it nonsense, feedback negativity, we feed it with unhealthy thoughts sometimes suicidal when going gets tough etc. Imagine a child's brain which copies what adults do. I liked the representation about ways to take care of this key organ. As adults let us practice and keep our children safe. #health #brainhealth #learning #education

CDC says, there are less than one-quarter of children engaging in 60 minutes of physical activity daily. ➡ Following are some significant aspects of how excessive screen time can shape our kids' health, development, and overall well-being. 👉 Mental Health Effects of Excessive Screen Time 😔 From anxiety to sleep disturbances, screens can disrupt their emotional balance and hinder their ability to cope with stress. 👉 Physical Health Effects of Excessive Screen Time 🏃♂️📱 Prolonged hours in front of screens can contribute to a sedentary lifestyle, increasing the risk of obesity and related health issues. 👉 Negative Impact on Social Skills and Family Life from Excessive Screen Time 🤝👨👩👧👦 Face-to-face interactions and quality family time can sometimes take a backseat when screens dominate our children's lives. The result? Impaired social skills and a disconnection from the real world. 👉 Academic Performance Affected by Excessive Screen Time 🎓📚 While technology can enhance learning, excessive screen time can be detrimental to academic performance. It can disrupt focus, hinder concentration, and lead to a decline in educational outcomes. 💫 Setting limits, leading by example and encouraging quality screen time are a few strategies to avoid detrimental effects. As parents and educators, let's assist our next generation navigate the digital age. #digimaker #kidshealth #screentimebalance #parentingtips

After a long time was observing the students’ clan outside school, in a personal event!! And I figured out that many students appear to be slouching or stooping, it could be due to various factors such as poor posture habits, spending long hours on devices, lack of physical activity, or discomfort. I really wonder why parents and teachers don’t check the young boys and girls who unintentionally/ intentionally exhibit such a slouching posture. Let's come together to support our students and children in maintaining good posture and overall well-being! It's essential to be mindful of their physical health, especially in this digital age. Encourage them to take breaks, stretch, and be aware of their posture while using devices. By fostering a healthy environment and teaching them the importance of good posture, we can ensure their well-being and long-term health. Let's work hand in hand to help them grow into healthy, happy individuals. #PostureMatters #StudentHealth #ParentTeacherPartnership #imagebuilding

The pervasive trend of being “always online” and the doubling of screen time during the pandemic have exacerbated various issues. These include the escalating #AdolescentMentalHealth crisis, a surge in feelings of loneliness, a decline in social connections, a reluctance of kids not wanting to grow up, and the struggle to detach from our phones and laptops. In today’s schools, hospitals, doctor’s offices, and #therapy rooms, we are seeing the impacts of being constantly online. The adults who are raising and caring for today’s young people don’t have a common roadmap, highlighting the need for a collective therapeutic approach to managing #ScreenUse. In this training, we will look at the modern clinical approaches for helping people of all ages build better relationships with #screens and #technology so they can build more balanced brains. 📱🧠 📅 April 11, 2024 • 9am - 4pm ET 💡 Facilitator: Jake Ernst, MSW RSW ➡️ Learn more & register here: https://ow.ly/2kfy50QQEK8 #SickKidsCCMHLI

NEW: Systematic review to understand what approaches work, & the behaviour change techniques used to influence children’s physical activity at home. Physical activity is essential for children’s health & wellbeing. Staying at home during COVID-19 decreased children’s physical activity, despite the rapid mobilisation of online physical activity opportunities. Post lockdown, many children still struggle to access physical activity opportunities beyond the home. Our key findings are highlighted in the image below and you can view the full article in this link: https://lnkd.in/eqd97Hps #SystematicReview #ChildHealth #PhysicalActivity #ActiveVideoGames #COVID19 #BehaviourChangeInterventions

Yet another study showing how easy and valid client severity ratings of stuttering are during treatment. Adults and teenagers used a 9-point scale for their speech and their scores matched well with those of a clinician. So, with clients of any age, preschoolers through to adults, it seems that all a clinician needs is a simple scale to measure stuttering severity. We find that is most intuitive to use a scale of 0–10. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ggd9MeVu #stutteringtreatment #severityratings #speechpathology #speechpathologist #research #stutter #health

😆Why do we need an allied health professionals team to support international school communities? Each specialist brings their specific expertise, offering a comprehensive solution through different lenses and perspectives. Take, for example, a seemingly simple task like putting on shoes at school. This involves an interplay of various skills, engaging different developmental domains: 👩⚖️ #SpeechTherapy: Ensures the child can understand and follow verbal instructions from teacher. 👩🔬#OccupationalTherapy: Focuses on the fine motor skills and minor muscles required to perform the task. 👨🔬 #BehaviorTherapy: Looks at the compliance, independence, and social aspects of the behavior. Understanding these perspectives helps educators and therapists provide holistic support to children. This ensures they develop the necessary skills to perform daily tasks independently and interact positively with their peers. #AlliedHealth #ChildDevelopment #SpeechTherapy #OccupationalTherapy #BehaviorTherapy #HolisticEducation #SchoolCommunity #StudentSupport
