The CDC changed this definition of health literacy in 2020. This new definition of personal health literacy added ‘use information’ rather than just having someone ‘understand’ it. It also focuses on the ability of people to make ‘well-informed’ decisions rather than just ‘appropriate’ ones. To us, this change shows the significance of health literacy is more than understanding medical terms; it really is about people feeling valued, heard, and understood. https://lnkd.in/dANjP87 #HealthLiteracyMonth #HealthLiteracy
