Initiative-2 (reposting it for technical reasons):
While intention to remove the bushes and develop them into green urban spaces came into existent for #LDAAvenue-1 and #JubileeTown, what I noticed was that their was cross slope of roads towards central green verges, whereas, the existing level of green belts were higher than the road level. What it meant was that after rainfall, water would remain stagnant on road and would ultimately detoriate the road structure. Another wrong practice was prevailing that this surface runoff was being thrown into sewer lines due to so-called drainage after rain, also casuing the sewers to overflow.
Though this was a problem, but I took it as another opportunity to improve the urban space. It pose an avid example for me to introduce #NatureBasedSolutions focusing on #groundwaterrecharge and contributing in mitigating negative impacts of #watersecurity due to ever-depleting ground water levels. Thus, a coercive effort could have been made towards #ClimateChangeMitigation.
Henceforth, I focused on lowering the level of green belts and ensured that it should have sufficient catchment area to preserve rain water amidst heavy rainfall. Besides, the construction of #rainwaterharvestingwells in these green belts were undertaken, to ensure that the clean rainy water is stored back to the ground water table, after appropriate cleansing through filtration media. #Rainchutes were developed along the road in order to entrap rain water all along.
Resultantly, last moonson, not a single drop of water stayed perculated on the road and rain water was prompltly returned to mother nature. I hope that we reap the fruits of these interventions for years to come IA.
PS: Its all about #leveraging the resources, how we manage our lands and how we #sustain our lands #economically and #ecologically.

3moThis sounds like it would make a great Envision project! 😀
