When tech outages occur, like the currently developing #crowdstrike bad software update scenario, it's essential to remember that everyone is allowed to have just one bad day.
Let's afford others some grace. IT people in your vicinity are working hard to resolve these issues, scenarios they've diligently prepped and war gamed for.
Additionally, let's acknowledge that Crowd Strike's software has safeguarded global businesses from cyber attacks on numerous occasions in the past.

A very useful blog from our Chief Information Security Officer advising how customers can adopt a strong cyber hygiene programme.
Not every customer I have spoken with has an Enterprise budget, focussing on the fundamentals will go a long way.
What do you think gives the "best bang for your buck" in cyber security?
With 6 days until the deadline, lets discuss...
What is a Capture the Flag (CTF) challenge?
Simply put, a CTF challenge is an exercise where you are challenged to find a flag (normally in such form like: flag{th1s_15_a_f1ag!} using your existing skills and knowledge. Normally, this means exploiting a system or a vulnerability, but some of the best challenges we have seen simply mean you need to think outside the box and apply knowledge from all areas.
This is the beauty - if you have an idea about a challenge that could be created around the theme of sporting, that's all you need to enter. 🌟
Do I need to design and create the challenge? No, we are judging based on your written ideas to ensure everybody can enter, no matter their technical background.
Does it have to be complex? No, some of the best challenges are the simple ones!
What will I be marked on? Creativity and thought play into this, there is no correlation of higher marks for more technical or complex submissions.
What do I win? The 3 top scoring CTF challenges will be featured in the CrestCon CTF challenge held on the day. Our winners and runners up will all receive CrestCon tickets!
When is the deadline? 30TH APRIL 2024 - so get applying! 😉
