At Usher AI we are greatly enjoying the in-depth exchanges we are having about ground operations at airports. Where there are differences in the operational challenges, there is one undisputed conclusion: ground operations benefit from providing guidance. What type of guidance is still a debate though. Where some prefer to wait until all aircraft are fitted with in-cockpit solutions, most are convinced airport-based solutions are preferable as they provide additional advantages. The difficulty being though that infrastructure-based solutions such as Follow-the-Greens require a significant investment over a lengthy period of time. And that's exactly what the appeal is of working with automated vehicles at airports. Affordable and quick to implement, the industry starts to recognize the unique value the concept can bring. We are very appreciative of all the discussions we have had so far and look forward to the ones still planned. Those discussions provide us with a solid basis for the requirements for our system development. The European Commission's Passenger Mobility Package has begun to be negotiated in the Council before the Summer Break. The new European Parliament will soon open negotiations too. While the "Mobility Package" provides welcome proposals on very concrete consumer issues, such as refunds for air tickets booked through online booking intermediaries, or the desire to introduce rights for multimodal travel (combining different modes for long-distance journeys such as Air-Rail or Rail-Bus), or to strengthen the enforcement of passenger rights, we're still a long way off the mark in term of content and scope of the different proposals!
