A strong #ESG initiative coming out of Cambridge Judge Business School where MBA Candidates are making #sustainability commitments to combat climate change in their future roles. The Climate Legacy Commitment, "...was founded on the idea that M.B.A. students hold a level of power when it comes to effecting change in future business practices, and that after graduating they will have more control when it comes to enacting day-to-day business decisions. So, if climate awareness is integrated, then operations as a whole can become more sustainable, [co-founders Collin Janich and Peter Golding] say." This is a smart approach and I hope it will expand to other university campuses. https://lnkd.in/e3E7Z5iC #MBA #MSW in progress

🌍 Just had a mind-blowing guest lecture by Stuart Brocklehurst, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Business Engagement and Innovation at the University of Exeter, on the urgent need for action on climate change. 🌱 After years of discussions, it's clear we all need to take more individual action to create change. As MBA students soon entering the business world, we have a particular responsibility and opportunities to make a difference. Some highlights from Stuart's presentation: The latest on decarbonization and electrification efforts - these will be key to mitigating climate impact Updates on the COP28 climate summit and related policy movements Impressive data demonstrating the acceleration of climate change How climate change will impact careers and business operations in every sector I felt proud to see the University of Exeter spearheading important innovation, research, and real-world climate impact. This ranges from on-campus sustainability efforts to critical global collaborations. The climate crisis can seem overwhelming, but lectures like this, thanks to The Exeter MBA, renew my hope and energy around the changes we can make. Both as individuals in our daily lives and by pursuing careers and leadership roles focused on environmental sustainability. I welcome conversations with my network on these urgent challenges facing our generation. #ClimateAction #Sustainability #MBAJourney #UniversityOfExeter #InnovationForChange

Another great edition of Wharton Climate Prof! You can watch 5-minute research pitches via the link below. The ESG Initiative at the Wharton School The Wharton School #climateprof #climateresearch
"Things moved quickly at the 2023 Wharton Climate Prof, a fast-paced event that gave professors just five minutes to present years of their research at the intersection of business and climate change. But with research so provocative, five minutes was all they needed to engage the audience and leave them wanting more." To watch these nine faculty research showcases, including presentations on the disproportionate impact of climate change on the global poor, the harms caused by transshipping, and the difficulty of setting ESG standards in full—and to read more about this year's Climate Prof—visit the link below. 2023 Wharton Climate Prof featured presentations by: Dan Garrett Susanna Berkouwer Sanya Carley Eric Orts Hamsa Bastani Francis X. ✅Cambridge course complete! 🎉It’s bitter sweet to share that I have successfully completed the University of Cambridge Online course: “Climate Change for Decision Makers: Challenges, Transformations, and Strategies". Sweet because I’m glad that all the work has led to a 93% final grade (great for my brain’s gold star receptors). Bitter because, well, climate change. 🌏With #cop28 around the corner it’s important to highlight the 2023 update to the Planetary Boundaries framework (see link below) notes that we have transgressed six out of nine of our planetary boundaries. During the course we often referred to ‘tipping points’, this idea of ‘the straw breaking the camel’s back’, reaching critical thresholds that could trigger irreversible domino effects. 📈With this in mind, any country boasting about being “ahead on targets”, particularly those who profited from the industrial revolution, must remember that the climate and ecosystems we rely upon for things like food, water and safety don’t care much for where one nation ends and the next begins. 📝A big thank you to Professor Jorge E. Vinuales, Roberto Pasqualino and fellow course mates, who have led this rigorous and detailed exploration of the transition needed across our urban, energy and food systems. The process has informed Urbanist on a Mission and the hopeful aspiration to motivate the creation of sustainable places through town planning, public speaking and digital engagement. 💭Where are you getting your info on the latest climate science?
