In PCB design, automation offers significant advantages, particularly with auto-routing technologies, which can efficiently handle complex routing tasks and save designers time compared to manual methods. There are two main types of auto-routing: standard auto-routing, which is fully automated, and interactive auto-routing, which combines automation with designer input for more control over routing.#auto-routingtechnology #benefitsofauto-routingtools #PCBboarddesignautomation #PCBlayoutdesigntools #standardauto-routingvsinteractiverouting #surfacemodelling

Explaining PCB design methodology. Here is a succinct explanation of PCB design approach that emphasises important factors: 1. schematics capture: Using EDA software, create the circuit design by specifying the locations and connections of the components. 2. netlist generation: Using the schematic as a guide, create a list of the parts and their connections to help in PCB layout. 3. PCB layers: PCBs are made up of silkscreen layers, power and ground planes, and signal layers, each of which has a distinct function in the design. 4. silk layer: Contains markings, labels, and component outlines printed on the PCB surface for identification and assembly. 5. solder mask: used all over the PCB surface—aside from the soldering areas—to shield copper traces and avoid solder bridges. 6. VIAs: electrical lines that run between the various PCB layers and enable signals to go vertically through the board. 7. geber files: Standard file format that describes copper traces, component location, and drill holes on a PCB layout for production. 8. trace size and width: Critical for current carrying capacity and signal integrity, determined by design parameters and calculated using trace width calculators. 9. copper weight: The PCB's copper layer thickness, expressed in ounces per square foot or grammes per square metre, is selected taking into account temperature factors and current carrying capacity. Fundamentally, PCB design technique is converting schematic designs into physical layouts while taking manufacturing feasibility, connection, and signal integrity into account at every stage of the process. #100daysamplifierdesign #day25 Pipeloluwa Olayiwola Tiny Tapeout Blue Cheetah Analog Design, Inc.

Mastering the Art of PCB Routing: A Balancing Act Between Automation and Control PCB routing is crucial for ensuring efficient and functional electronic circuits. This article explores various routing techniques: - Interactive routing: Precise mouse-driven control, ideal for intricate designs or precise control. - Auto routing: Automated routing based on set constraints, efficient for repetitive tasks and quick iterations. - Sketch routing: Precise path sketching with the mouse, offering creative control for unique routing needs. Additional techniques within sketch routing: - Hug-and-route: Smooth parallel trace connections. - Push-and-shove: Strategic trace movement without disruption. Choosing the right technique: - Balance automation and control: Auto routing aids in repetitive tasks, while sketch routing offers artistic control for specific needs. - Auto routing is not a replacement: It excels in rapid iterations and "what-if" scenarios, but manual control is still essential. Key takeaway: PCB designers can achieve optimal results by harmonizing these techniques. Mastering the art of routing involves embracing both automation and meticulous control for successful circuit board design. #Siemens #Siemenseda #SiemensSoftware #EDA #SiemensDigital #SiemensDigitalIndustries #PCBDesign #RoutingTechniques #InteractiveRouting #AutoRouting #SketchRouting #EngineeringExcellence #PCEA #designinnovation
