Did you know over 80% of shoppers are buying less meat in stores right now?📉 Between higher costs, consistent inflation, and a lack of time, grocery store goers have had to cut back on meat purchases. This shocking stat comes from the "Power of Meat" study released annually by our friends at the Meat Institute, and it really got us thinking... How can we help alleviate this burden from the consumer with packaging?🤔 In response to these economic pressures, innovative case-ready packaging for premium ground meats – including beef, bison, venison, wagyu, and more – is emerging as a key player. The shift towards formats like thermoformed brick packaging is prompting both producers and consumers to re-evaluate their product and packaging choices, prioritizing maximum savings, minimized material waste, and optimal product quality and freshness. If you're curious about how thermoformed brick packs are changing the game, be sure to check out our recent article, "Brick by Brick: Building Meat Packaging’s Future on Sustainability & Savings". This article delves into the state of meat packaging today, and offers a new perspective. Thermoforming for Meat shows great promise - it reduces film waste, enables longer shelf lives, and so much more! 🍖 Improving How Meat is Packed: Making It Eco-Friendly and Efficient! 🌐 People who pack meat are facing big challenges because there aren't enough workers, and it's getting expensive. At the same time, customers want the packaging to be good for the environment, but they don't want to pay more money. Here's how they're trying to make things better: 1️⃣ Better Trays and Bags: Some companies are using trays and bags that make it less likely for the sharp bones in meat to poke through, so there are fewer spills. These new bags also resist getting holes and are better for the environment. 2️⃣ Customized Packaging: Some companies are making special bags that can be adjusted to fit different kinds of meat. This helps reduce costs because they only need one type of bag instead of many. 3️⃣ New Machines for Packing: Some companies have new machines that make the bags right when they're needed. This saves money because they don't have to keep a lot of bags in stock, and it also helps the environment. 4️⃣ Flexible Packaging Options: Some companies are working with others to make sure the packaging fits the meat just right. They have special bags that are tough but can be used for different things, which saves money. 5️⃣ Making Meat Look Good and Last Longer: There are new ways to wrap meat so it looks nice in the store and stays fresh for a longer time. This is good for stores because they waste less meat, customers throw away less, and companies can sell their products to more places. Things are getting better every year with meat packaging. There are fewer problems with bags breaking, less mess, and they're finding ways to use machines to help out more. 🥩🌍 For more summarised information like this, subscribe to our newsletter and stay in the loop with all the news from the industry: https://lnkd.in/dVuEVwYj [Source: https://lnkd.in/d3ytu_SP] #MeatPacking #MeatIndustry

When we think about dry foods such as pasta, rice or nuts without packaging, natural and organic grocery stores come to mind, but shouldn’t these items be available in all supermarkets? 🤔 We’re convinced that it’s now up to logistics services to rise to the challenge and create a supply chain that can deliver packaging-free food that meets the needs of the retail sector, FMCG companies, and consumers. But how can we all enable and support a sustainable and profitable packaging-free model? To tackle this question, we worked with Ilec – La voix des marques and Bartle to produce a white paper entitled "Unpacking the question of packaging-free". A big part of innovation is the ability to change the usual way of doing things to bring more convenience and better offerings. In most times, innovations are rejected because they bring with them a big difference that changes what “should” be normal. Below is an example of a tomato, ground into a powder and offered as such. This innovation lessens processing time, and makes cooking faster, but how many can accept this vs a raw tomato (the normal)? How many will question the health attributes of this offering vs a raw tomato? What are your thoughts? #innovation #newproductoffering #newproduct #convenience
