🟣 Another productive week for FUTURESILIENCE. Two partners met up for a week at the Risk and Crisis Research Centre of the Mid Sweden University in Östersund 🇸🇪 🗂️ We have intensively worked on the mapping of policy-relevant research results that will feed our 'FUTURESILIENCE Labs' in tailoring solutions to build societal resilience. We will create a Knowledge Base that would contribute to improving the way citizens and policymakers interact with scientific evidence to design future resilience. 🕹️ We also hold discussions on the design of the validation phase that will take place in the Simulation Lab in Sweden in 2025. We will have multiple stakeholders joining us for a validation exercise and working on the #anticipatory and #future oriented approach to #resilience.

As a proud product of the Buffalo entrepreneurial ecosystem, I'm thrilled to join the industry advisory board for the Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences (CBLS) and the Center for Advanced Technology in Big Data and Health Sciences (CAT). The scale and pace of innovation in our community are truly remarkable, driving unprecedented growth and advancements. Something stands in the way of everyone understanding the beauty and importance of scientific knowledge. Overly complicated explanations. It’s true, science is easy to overcomplicate. These concepts are loaded with difficult-to-understand ideas. How do we even begin to explain something as intricate as a cell? I know it can be overwhelming even to try. Picture this: You’re at dinner with a new group of friends enjoying appetizers, and while getting to know one of them, they ask what you do. You give them the one-sentence answer about how you’re a scientist, and you study xyz. They say, “Oh, that sounds like it’s way over my head.” And the conversation halts. Should you try to explain? You CAN do it. You can explain your science to them and help them “get it” so they understand why your research matters. By skillfully communicating scientific concepts, you have the power to make science accessible to individuals from all walks of life. Are you interested in improving your communication skills? Unbelievabe, I did that this Saturday afternoon😱 , but I surely had a blast !! Thanks to Auris-E. Lipinski, where I was invited as a guest speaker for PhenCoCo, and had the privilege of spending time with a group of brilliant individuals. My topic was the 'Significance of Social Media in Shaping our Decision-Making Process', where I spoke about concepts such as: 1. Different types of needs that motivate people to seek Social Media for gratification. 2. Importance of Social Capital for establishing connections & networks. 3. Cognitive process of making decisions based upon observations. 4. Role of Global Cultural Integration for Individuals on digital platforms. 5. Diffusion of Innovative ideas & trends. 6. A researched framework designed to understand user's decision-making process in various contexts (i.e. organizations, marketplaces, or social environments). 7. Practical use of this framework for Brands, Businesses, Governments, etc. We had a great post-session discussion over and around this topic, and if I'm being honest I enjoyed it so much that I can't wait to already start working on my next presentation!
