Just an inch or two can make all the difference! Our laser marker has been a home run from day one. Thanks Ilene C. and Joe Gurley for the great find! 2 years later and it's still running like a champ! This automation for marking our boards has been a complete game changer. It has moved locations as we brought in new equipment and repositioned things, and the exhaust system wasn't working as well in a new location. There were a couple of contributing factors that I could find, and addressed each one. First, the exhaust hose had a couple tears near the hose clamp. Second, I had noticed the smoke would not immediately disappear through the vacuum hose. Sometimes it would hover and appear to dissipate more on its own. It was a simple fix. Just had to loosen two screws and slide the arm holding the vacuum hose closer to the marking zone. After a number of tests to ensure it could never cause an obstruction at its new location, happy to report zero odor can be detected and the smoke is almost gone before you can see it! Sometimes these little fixes are the most rewarding. It didn't take much time at all, but it makes a big impact. The odors produced from laser marking on PCB substrates are not just unpleasant, they can be dangerous if not extracted properly. It took roughly the same amount of time to make the improvement as it did to write this post. Regarding the service life of #thermocouples. This is difficult to define because it can vary depending on factors such as sensor #construction, operating conditions, and #maintenance. Generally speaking, if used and maintained properly, thermocouples can last for years or even decades. However, harsher operating conditions or lack of maintenance may shorten its service life. To ensure accurate #temperature #measurements, thermocouples should be inspected regularly and replaced if they show signs of wear or damage.
