Dubbed the “Natural State,” Arkansas has got pretty natural springs and is lush with greenery and rolling hills–did you know the Ozarks cover much of the northern part of the state? So going through these five northern cities makes for both a scenic drive and a great playground for outdoor adventure. On top of that, Arkansas has got top-notch museums, stylish hotels, fun restaurants and plenty of Americana for history buffs to delve into. SILVER LAKE LOS ANGELES GUIDE BELOW: https://lnkd.in/gWTPy8uR Welcome to the Los Angeles community of Silver Lake. Our neighborhood guide contains an intimate glimpse of the best art, shopping, nightlife, modern architecture, and the many architecturally significant and historical homes built by John Lautner, Richard Neutra, Edward A. Adams, Eric Lloyd Wright, Raphael Soriano, and Harwell Hamilton. Silver Lake is located northeast of downtown, in an area once known variously as Edendale and Ivanhoe, a beautiful landscape of hills and glens southwest of the Los Angeles River. Homes active on the market today range from $750,000 upwards to $ 4.395mil, while condominiums fall between $375,000 and $1.689mil. 296 homes have sold from December 1st of this year with average days on the market of 29 or 6 more than the previous year with an average price sold per sq/ft at $956.14 down from $1,032.55 the previous year. If you're thinking about buying a home in the Silver Lake market today you have more leverage than you did one year ago. The market is tremendously active in Silver Lake, with demand that is reflected in both neighborhood-sensitive and property-specific ways. Those homes that have architectural significance are one of the hottest tickets in town. Culturally, Silver Lake has always had a reputation for being home to artists, musicians, writers, and creative people, unique in its acceptance of a racially and ideologically diverse as well as politically progressive population. Harry Hay’s Mattachine Society and the Black Cat Bar, thought to be originating points of the gay rights movement in Los Angeles, were also located in the neighborhood. I PLEDGE my HEAD to clearer thinking, my HEART to greater loyalty, my HANDS to larger service, and my HEALTH to better living, for my family, my club, my community, my country and my world. This is the 4-H Pledge that youth and adults recite at the opening of each meeting. In the spirit of that pledge to clearer thinking, we ask “is there a future for 4-H in Sherburne County?” Last summer, the 4-H horse project funded and painted the barns to freshen them up for fair. Imagine the disappointment as everything the kids worked to prepare for was deluged with rain through the failing roofs on the horse barns as several waves of extreme weather occurred during fair week. The normal flurry of excitement was replaced with an all-out scramble to shift horses to higher ground and wait out the storm while also scrambling to save thousands of dollars’ worth of hay, feed, show clothes, tack and equipment. This is one of many issues that need to be addressed to deal with aging infrastructure and the future of the county fairgrounds. The county has indicated at various times the desire to sell and redevelop the property the fairground occupies. That constant fear of being evicted from the fairgrounds has not served the best interests of the youth or the community at large. Sherburne County businesses and residents are overwhelmingly supportive of 4-H programming when made aware of needs and how they can help. But who will invest in updating and improving the aging infrastructure of a fairgrounds under constant threat of eviction and redevelopment of the property? If the long-range plan is to relocate the fairgrounds, then please, let us begin the dialogue to plan out a timeline and details for beginning that endeavor. We need to at least work together to solve the immediate issues to serve our youth of today as well as plan for the future of our youth. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
