Yesterday our Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Armed Forces Programme hosted an event in the St Thomas' Hospital garden to commemorate Armed Forces Day. Staff, patients and visitors enjoyed music from the Welsh Guards band, blessings from our multi-faith chaplains as well as information stands from members of the Armed Forces, organisations supporting the Armed Forces community and our staff networks. Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Professor Ian Abbs said: "This is an important day for us, when one great national institution, the NHS, celebrates and gives thanks to another, the Armed Forces. We have good reason to thank our colleagues from the Armed Forces, not only for all they do at home and abroad to keep us safe, but specifically for how they support us here at Guy's and St Thomas' and in the wider NHS." Guy’s and St Thomas’ is part of the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance and proud to be a Veteran Aware hospital. We have signed the Armed Forces Covenant.
