We’re excited to announce that we are now members of SteelZero, a global initiative by Climate Group. Membership puts us on a pathway to using 50% low emission steel by 2030 and 100% net zero steel by 2050*. SteelZero brings together business like ours to speed up the transition to net zero steel. As one of the top five emitting materials in our purchased goods, reinforced steel accounts for around 20% of total CO2e emissions, so moving towards low emission steel will represent a significant reduction in our impact. Membership sees us join over 40 other companies looking to use our collective purchasing power and influence to accelerate widescale production of net zero steel. #NetZeroSteel #CommittedtoAction #Sustainability #NetZero #SustainableBusiness ------------- *Check out definitions in our blog post https://hubs.ly/Q02FqysG0 . CO2e value is based on data inputted into Normative, an industry-standard platform that allows us to calculate carbon across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions in accordance with GHG Protocol standards.
Using low emission steel is certainly the right thing to do for our company. It’s also expected by our customers when they choose a premium product / supply partner. I’m proud of our team for moving quickly and leading change.
Another important step on our Sustainability journey.
