Lead times from NXP are expected to extend significantly with customers being asked to provide a rolling 12- to 18-month forecast to maintain three months of inventory. Samsung and Micron are reported to increase memory prices by approximately 10% this quarter. STM is reported to be reducing its manufacturing capacity in order to offset the lower demand it has seen. This will lead to lead times extending to on average of 16-18 weeks with some products out to 30-40 weeks An increase in capacitor demand by the AI sector is leading to longer lead times for components like polymer capacitors.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the electronics industry has faced unprecedented challenges with the surge of counterfeit components. As OEMs and Contract Manufacturers scrambled for essential integrated circuit (IC) components, the scarcity led to an unwelcome influx of counterfeit parts, posing significant risks to quality, safety, and financial stability. With the global electronics manufacturing services industry poised for explosive growth, expected to reach $856 billion within the next five years, the demand for IC chips in critical electronics for self-driving cars, medical devices, space exploration, and defense is skyrocketing. This growth underscores the urgent need for robust quality assurance solutions. A recent industry survey by IEEE revealed a staggering 86.87% of experts consider IC counterfeits a major or significant issue, with the potential financial impact of a counterfeit component in electronic assembly exceeding US$50,000. At White Horse Laboratories, we understand the gravity of this issue. Our cutting-edge quality assurance, testing, and analytics solutions are designed to combat counterfeit components, ensuring your products meet the highest standards of authenticity and reliability.
