Early Childhood - Caring for Animals Care of plants and animals is part of the Practical Life curriculum and an important part of Montessori education. Care of pets can be a perfect way for young children to develop a number of skills along with many positive character traits. Including live animals in a child’s daily life greatly enhances their abilities to learn responsibility, empathy, and compassion for other living things, respect for life, and the natural development of living things. The lessons that are instilled in a child through caring for animals will remain with them for the rest of their lives. #careofenvironment #careofanimals #responsibility #empathy #compassion #socialemotionallearning #respectforlife #alwayslearning #handsonlearning #experientiallearning #capable #tma #montessori #privateschool #arlingtontx #arlington #texas #infant #nido #toddler #earlychildhood #preschool #kindergarten #elementary #education #privateeducation #nontraditional #themontessoriacademyofarlington

To continue on the little series I'm going to call "Accessible Education Is Better" I'd like to elaborate on point two: "Accessible Education" could be used for disabled people of all ages as opposed to "Special Education", is generally used for children". In all of my unlearning and relearning about how we talk about disability, I keep coming back to this very simple phrase: Disabled children become disabled adults. Disability doesn't stop at 26 and neither does education. Education, of course, includes learning concepts in a classroom with an instructor...AND it includes day programs that teach employment skills. It includes community-based programs that host cooking programs for teens. It includes community-based accessible sports camp for adults. When it comes to disability education, anything can be learning opportunity. Which means anything can be made accessible. Thus, anything can be considered accessible education.

Hasler-White finds the solutions your organisation needs in the face of unprecedented challenges. Rooted in actual experience, I deliver uniquely inclusive group workshops for organisations tackling complex problems.
This 👇 Your tip for the so-called ‘hard to engage’ There’s a lot written about different learning styles - auditory, visual and kinaesthetic - like a lot of characteristics, they’re not static. When housing and other colleagues describe people as ‘hard to engage’, it may be this simple - presenting the information in a visual format. Better still - start by asking the person how they want the information to be presented. This unsolicited feedback on our facilitation style at Your Own Place CIC sums up how to reach people. All of our workshops - with absolutely everyone - use techniques that cater for the range of learning styles - meaning people are a lot easier to reach 💡 #workshops #learning #learningstyles #neurodivergence #housing #homelessness #tenants #tenancy #tenancysustainment

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) shapes policies and systems to ensure people with disabilities are treated fairly and can fully participate in society.
