I have been ignored for years by various organizations in the entertainment industry. It is crucial that this industry provides access to the free market, allowing all Latinos, whether already involved or aspiring to be, to participate. This is especially important in positions behind the scenes where key decisions are made. I testified before Congress years ago on the lack of access for Latinos behind the cameras and in front of them.In my view, “there can be no affirmative action without segregation—nor any end to segregation if our names must be kept on separate lists. I'd like to propose instead a simple scenario: a fair job market where employment is commensurate with ability regardless of gender, racial, or ethnic background. As stated in a quote from a Newsweek column published in the Wall Street Journal,”  written by Migdia Chinea Varela(me): "I make a pitch, they like my story, I get the job. Why not?"According to USC Annenberg Hollywood statistics, the lack of access for Latinos behind the cameras is glaring, with only 1.5% representation.
