The core tenet of #forestproud is that forests offer powerful climate solutions, forest management is how we deliver them, markets products are how we sustain these solutions, and our people are essential to scale them. This is an excellent thought piece. The payoffs for investing in cutting agrifood emissions are estimated to be much bigger than the costs. Annual investments will need to increase by an estimated 18 times, to $260 billion a year, to halve current agrifood emissions by 2030 and put the world on track for net zero emissions by 2050. Estimates show that the benefits in health, economic, and environmental terms could be as much as $4.3 trillion in 2030, a 16-to-1 return on investment. https://lnkd.in/g3WCHgeQ

Yesterday, during a meeting, I shared a thought that has continued to stay on my mind since: "What's the difference between just managing tasks and truly caring about them? Have we been simply going through the motions and checking the boxes or are we deeply engaging with the responsibility given to us?" We often get caught in the routine: - Finishing tasks just because they're on our to-do list. - Running after short-term success without looking at the big picture. - Trying hard, but occasionally missing the heart of the matter. But there exist a deeper, more fulfilling role that we can choose: being a steward. - Where we plan for a future we might not even be a part of. - Where our care goes beyond results, touching people, our land, and the meals we eat. In agriculture, it's never just about the current season or crop. It's about preparing the land for many more harvests, thinking of future generations, and the kind of world we want for them. The question is, what does it really take to shift from just managing to heartfelt stewardship? How can we move from merely existing today to purposefully shaping a brighter tomorrow? I don't have all the answers now. But I'm hopeful that one day, we will.
